A beautiful industrial style venue for our Industrial Issue! Twotonmax is the venue of your dreams. Described as ‘industrial luxury’ this venue built around 1910-1920, is a blank canvas allowing you to put as much or as little decoration into the venue as you like – either way Twotonmax is a standout. With a choice of their own catering service (with inclusive food and beverage packages) or bringing in your own, Laura can also assist you with bringing in the best vendors who will ensure that your unique style is front and centre with unlimited options for beautiful blooms, colour and lighting and the menu of your dreams. This venue is perfect for your ceremony and your reception all under the one roof, and seats 200 comfortably with plenty of room for dancing the night away. And if Twotonmax is not quite your style, why not consider their sister venue The Ivory Elsternwick!
We asked Laura of Twotonmax five questions in five minutes:
Weddings are the best to work on because….
What can I say, I just love – LOVE. The wedding industry is easy to fall in love with because it creates such a zest for professional life that you did not know was possible. Inadvertently it also opens the door for a lot of self-discovery and self-education. From time to time I wake up grinning at the fact that I get to do what I love – and the fact I get paid to do it!
What is something people would be surprised to know about your job or something that challenges you about your job?
I think openness and understanding is incredibly important in our industry. Not so much an aspect I find as a challenge but something I continue to adjust and reflect on throughout my career. A surprise – I cannot share too much of the secret sauce with you, but what I can tell you is that we get to eat lots of cake.
What is it about the creative process that you most enjoy?
Studying and working in analogue photography prior to my career in the events industry means I really cannot hide the fact that I have a huge crush on the creative process. The focal point in photography is very similar to the main visual design element for a wedding – An equal amount of concentration and awareness when it comes to what exactly you trying to achieve. Walking couples through a blank venue and creating a vision with styling components, colour palette and floral design is a forever changing process that I continue to tweak and zhuzh up. There is something meaningful and fulfilling about the creative process, especially when it is for the benefit of others. That is what I enjoy most.
What are you hilariously bad at?
Reverse parking.
When you were small what did you dream of being and where have those dreams taken you?
Santa Claus – So wedding planning is practically the same thing. Dream big kids.
