Your stationery inviting your guests to the wedding has always been important – setting the theme and feel for your day and letting your guests in on the festivities that lie ahead. But as we come out of this pandemic, I believe your stationery will take on a new importance as there is a new meaning in couples including their loved ones in not only a celebration of love, but a celebration of life and new possibilities that lie ahead. With fine and delicate original artwork, Elizabeth of ELK Prints Design & Illustration Studio’s stationery is not only stunning to look at with hand painted designs telling your story, but her watercolour and pen and ink designs add to the romance with the artisanal quality that is so much her signature. As Elizabeth says “Common threads may connect us but how those threads are joined together is always a little different. My role is to connect those threads and create something beautiful that tells the story that is important to you”. Unique invitations suites to tell your unique story.
We asked Elizabeth of ELK Prints Design & Illustration Studio’s five questions in five minutes:
What is the most important piece of advice you can give to engaged couples?
Be yourselves. Your wedding is a celebration of your marriage, the meeting of your two unique personalities. Rather than slavishly following the latest trends make decisions that reflect your own personal style. Trends come and go but your wedding day will always be an important memory for the rest of your life so it should reflect who you are as a couple.
Tell us about a hidden talent you have?
When I was younger I loved Ice-Skating and competed in figure-skating and ice-dancing competitions locally. I’m a bit rusty now but can still twirl around the ice happily given the opportunity.
As a vendor, what excites you about the wedding day?
I like seeing how the couples plans have come to fruition. Often when planning stationery you are hearing the ideas and styles they like and then to see everything come together in the end is lovely.
What are you known for?
I’m known for my love of flowers and botanicals. I’m deeply inspired by nature and wherever possible try to draw from life itself. I love exploring ideas and places as well so I really like to get stuck into a concept or style or learning more about the inspiration behind something. I think it was why I was so drawn to specialising in custom design work so that I can keep exploring all these interesting different things.
If you could choose a song to play for the rest of your life what would it be?
As an inherent explorer I think I’d go mad only listening to one song forever. There are some songs though that I still always love hearing throughout the years. One of these is the song “Drive” by Mundy – I find it very relaxing and it helps me unwind at the end of a long day or if I’m out on the road heading home.
