There are so many things to consider when planning the big day from the big ticket items to the little details. All these factors contribute to the theme and vibe of your wedding. Wedding transport is quite often on that list! And it doesn’t have to be as simple as getting from A to B – sometimes it’s about how to get there in style! We love wedding cars, from sleek limos, to vintage beauties, but let’s be honest, who on Earth knows how to go about arranging this, or what to consider.
So, we sat down with one of Polka Dot Bride’s finest vendors, the five time award-winning Triple R Luxury Car Hire to answer five burning questions you need to ask yourselves when it comes to hiring your wedding transport.
Who goes in what wedding cars?
The first thing you should determine is how many people will need transport on the day. Every couple will have their own requirements whether that be religious/cultural traditions.
These days we see many couples doing things different to what happened in the past such as having photos before their ceremony, couples leaving from the same accomodation and the cars booked for international wedding photoshoots with the ceremony taking place overseas.
We advise couples to choose their lead car first based on their preference, we can then suggest the other cars that will compliment each other while meeting your passenger requirement needs.

Traditionally, it used to be the bride and father in one car and the bridesmaids in another car. However, these days it may be the bride and bridesmaids in the one car and another vehicle for the groomsmen. After the ceremony, the newlyweds will then be transported in the lead bridal car and the bridal party in another one or two. It’s best to speak in detail about your plans with our knowledgeable staff as we understand everyone’s needs and traditions are different and we can suggest the most cost effective option to meet their needs.
People to consider needing transport on the day are as follows:
● The couple
● Maid of Honour
● Best Man
● Bridesmaids and groomsmen
● Flower girls and page boys
● Parents of the couple
● Guests with special needs or disabled guests

What important questions should I be asking my provider?
We suggest asking some of the following questions to your supplier.
● How far ahead of the wedding date should I book my wedding cars and are you available?
● Do you own all the cars on offer on your website or do you use contractors?
● My wedding is taking place in the country on rough dirt roads, will your cars be able to access this?
● Are children allowed in the car?
● How many can each car comfortably seat?
● What if my needs change before the wedding, can we adjust and re-confirm the details and add extra time if needed?
● Can I come and view the cars in your showroom?
How many wedding cars do I need to hire?
This really depends on the size of your bridal party and your needs on the day. Sometimes we can utilise the cars to make several trips if the bride and grooms pickup address is close to the ceremony. As a general rule most couples will book between two to three cars for their wedding transport. Please discuss with our friendly staff your specific needs and we can tailor a package for your transport and help you with the logistics of your day.

How much are wedding cars to hire?
Wedding car transport and hire varies from state to state and also as there are different styles/types of cars there is no general rule of thumb. Many smaller regular modern cars may be cheaper but wont have the ‘wow’ factor like a classic or exotic car. A wedding Limousine will be more expensive than a smaller sedan however it can seat more passengers so is not really a fair price comparison.
According to the Easy Weddings 2020 Wedding Industry report, the average cost of wedding transport in Australia is $1,289. However ,you might prefer to go for a more affordable package starting at $695 for a three hour hire in the inner metro area for a Rolls Royce or a Bentley. Be sure to ask about discounts for weekday or winter weddings.

What are the most popular wedding cars to hire?
The most popular choices are Rolls Royce and Bentleys. The grand Rolls Royce Wraiths are by far our most desirable options especially as the lead bridal car.
Do the cars wait until the end of the night?
Generally most couples will use the cars until the drop-off at the reception, this is usually around 5-6pm or when your guests arrive. Of course this is different if your wedding is taking place at the same venue ie a winery or city function venue, in this case the cars will remain for some photographs after the ceremony and then usually leave.

Can I decorate wedding cars?
Of course. Most hire vehicles come with the traditional white ribbon and the option to supply your own. Unfortunately, you might need to consider that rentals are not able to allow flags, flowers or other decorations on the car while it is in motion. However, for static photos and display that should be fine.
