A long-awaited holiday to Palm Springs began with a welcome drink that we instantly fell in love with – the Spiced Margarita!
This amazing little desert town, and it’s Mexican influenced cocktails and nibbles, left us yearning to share the Palm Springs experience with our friends when we returned to Brisbane. And so, the Palm Springs party theme was born and the spiced Margarita was the star of the show.
Ingredients
- 2 shots (60ml) of tequila
- 1 shot (30ml) of triple sec or Cointreau
- Half a lime (squeezed)
- Ice
- Chilli salt
Method
Use a lime cut in half to wet the rim of a margarita glass, sprinkle chilli salt on to a flat plate, then rotate the top of the glass in the chilli salt to create a Palm Springs style chilli salt rim. Squeeze lime juice out of the lime and pour with all liquid ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake well, then pour into a margarita glass and garnish with the squeezed lime.

And here’s the original Palm Springs Spiced Margarita that, along with this amazing desert town, inspired this Palm Springs themed gathering.
