Helen & Matt
Tell us about your wedding?
Our wedding ceremony was held at the Holy Rosary Church in Nedlands on April 16, 2016! We had our reception at Little Creatures Brewery in Fremantle in ‘The Deck’ Bar. It was filled with music from our friends, and also a slight Harry Potter theme due to my deep love for the books…haha!
Now that some time has passed, what would you differently?
We always look back on our wedding and think how much we both loved it. We don’t think we would have changed a thing!
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle to meet my husband Matt was very special, having our friends serenade us for the ceremony made it even more so. As my husband Matt and I are musicians we had a big musical theme and had the WAAPA Gospel Choir sing during the ceremony,
What advice do you have for others planning their wedding?
Try and stick to your guns, and remember the day is about you both and celebrating your love. Try to remember why you’re going ahead with the wedding when things get too much!
Did you have any vendors you absolutely adored and still remember?
Floral Army were so amazing, their flowers were stunning, and the team are just beautiful to work with. My family still gets flowers from their shop. Samantha Wynne was such a lovely lady who helped me with my dress, and I recommend her to any future bride!
If you could do it all over again, what would your wedding look like?
We are boring, as we would have kept it exactly how it was.
Where has life taken you? What are you up to now?
Since 2016 we have continued to work as musicians (catch Helen here), and in 2019 took the plunge and moved to London. We had an amazing year, but due to COVID-19 we are back in Perth, although we are excited to welcome our first child in November 2020!
What is the secret to your marriage?
Mutual respect and a sense of fun and laughter! Being each other’s biggest cheerleader!
I had the honour of being the Celebrant for Will and Michele. Great couple, awesome venue and a very happy day.
