Tell us about your wedding?
We look back at our wedding with such fond memories! It was a day by the beach, filled with love, laughs and lots of fun. Byron Bay is such a special place for us and it brought such a relaxed and happy vibe to our wedding day! We had a gorgeous ceremony on the grass in front of Rae’s at Wategos Beach. It was styled with wooden benches, blue and white mats down the aisle, a driftwood arbour adorned with tropical greenery and live acoustic music played in the background. After the official proceedings and some photos, we held our reception at Belongil Bistro. Belongil is a quieter part of Byron, which allowed for an intimate evening, with heartfelt speeches, delicious food and plenty of dancing!
Now that some time has passed, what would you differently?
To be honest we don’t think we’d do anything differently! A LOT of thought, time and effort were put into all of the elements of the day and it turned out just as we had dreamed! We had a lot of help from friends and family, and wonderful vendors and we were stoked with everything and still are
!

What was the memorable moment of your wedding day?
There were so many memorable moments for us, it’s hard to choose! Our vows were a highlight of our ceremony! We wrote surprise vows for each other to read out, which were quite hilarious! We also poured everyone a shot of apple schnapps (a hint to my husband’s Germany heritage) as our post-ceremony toast which was a bit of fun! And last but not least, our first dance was an emotion-filled moment where we were able to stop and just be with each other and realise just how lucky we were to be surrounded by so much love.
What advice do you have for others planning their wedding?
Have fun, don’t get too stressed (which is hard I know!), collaborate with your partner, get inspiration from lots of different sources, find a balance with what you want/what’s practical and get crafty!

Did you have any vendors you absolutely adored and still remember?
Yes – our photographer, Van Middleton Photography was amazing! We feel very lucky to have had him. My dress from Grace Loves Lace was beautiful and we had a wonderful experience with them, and the team at Belongil Bistro were the best!
If you could do it all over again, what would your wedding look like?
The same! It was our dream day!
Where has life taken you? What are you up to now?
Life has been a fun adventure since our wedding day! We have bought a house near the beach, travelled overseas and had a baby! Our son Reuben is now 10 months old and so much fun!
What is the secret to your marriage?
The secret to our marriage I think, is that we are always laughing and making fun of ourselves! Life gets crazy but if you can support each and make each other smile, you can get through it together. And hugs! Hugs are important!!
