Kahlia & Luke
We will continue to shout from the rooftops all month long during The Byron Bay Issue – this month isn’t just about a location, it’s about a vibe, A pace of life that is relaxed, where sandy toes are a daily occurrence. The engagement session of Kahlia and Luke is just what we all need right now, Wide open spaces, plenty of laughter and no fuss. Just love.
Captured beautifully by the ever-talented Kate of Quince & Mulberry Studios, this is the story of a couple who met as teenagers, Kahlia filled us on in their tale, “Luke and I met in high school when we were 16 years old and after three years of chasing each other we started dated at 19.”
It’s so very apt that these two spend their engagement session on the beach, because the beach is exactly where Luke popped the question, remembers the bride-to-be. “After six years together Luke decided to take me away for a weekend to our favourite resort in Kingscliff. Luke decided we would spend the Saturday afternoon having a picnic on the beach. Luke spent all Saturday afternoon on the balcony watching a storm roll in, he honestly didn’t move for about three hours and was acting so strange I thought he was going to break up with me haha.
With the storm on the horizon, Luke and I decided to head down to the beach with our drinks and beach umbrella and it was honestly the most beautiful I have ever seen a beach look. Not long after we set up torrential rain started hammering down with us huddled together under the umbrella wrapped in a blanket. When we couldn’t get any more wet and were about to head home Luke turned to me and pulled my beautiful engagement ring out of nowhere and asked me to marry him. I have never been so shocked or happy in my whole life; I honestly cried my eyes out.”
“I love how outwardly loving, caring, selfless and protective Luke is” tells Kahlia. “Luke inspires me, supports me and motivates me to be the best version of myself. I love however since we were young Luke has always put me first and I have never had someone who is so in my corner and all I want to do is be around him. Luke is my best friend and makes me laugh like no one else; he makes me feel like I’m my high school self falling in love with him again every single day.”
“We chose the style of our engagement shoot because after the afternoon of our engagement we associate the beach with our love. The most amazing thing was the colours of the beach in our engagement shoot were almost the same as the afternoon Luke proposed to me. Our photographer Kate did an amazing job with keeping our engagement shoot fun and relaxed which is a perfect replica of our relationship and who the two of us are as a couple.”
