Make no mistake, the bridal veil is back. The humble veil whether classic, modern, over the face, embellished or plain “showstopper” should be the finishing look to your bridal look.
It is very important that your accessories match the quality of your gown. You want them to complement and honour each other rather than one sticking out like a sore thumb. A great bridal retailer (who also offer bridal accessories and veils) will meet with their designers and handpick items they are confident will complement their gowns, while trying to offer timeless options as well as keeping up with the current trends.
Tip: Go for a veil made of the highest quality tulles that are soft and sheer with delicate edges.
Here are some of the trends we are seeing in bridal veils..
Style: The most popular veil is still a simple single, cathedral length veil that gives all the romance for the day but doesn’t overtake the look of a gown.
Length: Shorter veils are less popular at the moment as it seems it’s all about that dramatic length for those amazing photos. Seriously, the longer the better!
Embellishments: Pearls, crystals and lace tend to be the most popular.
But which style of gown suits the various veil options?
Feature veils: At the moment the clean, crepe gowns are really suiting feature veils. We have some amazing examples with pearl and crystal detail cascading down the veil, they look especially great with dark hair!
Lace veils: The lace bottom veil is also a popular choice with the plainer gowns, it is such a dramatic feature but doesn’t overwhelm the entire look of the gown.
Simple veils: When gowns are lace or detailed I find the simple veils with either very fine or raw edges are still the most popular, we always advise our brides that less is more and if you have detail on your gown you want to let that shine and not over take it with a veil.
