Kim & Jonathan
If there is one thing the Sunshine Coast is known for, it’s clear golden light, it’s amazing seaside landscapes and hinterland beauty. For Kim and Jonathan, a sunset session by the sea and on the mountaintops alongside photographer Eric Wang was just the ticket to mark their engagement joy.
After meeting at a mutual friend’s birthday party, the pair soon realised they’d met their match. Eco-conscious, these two are planning a vegan, DIY backyard wedding, completely in line with the love of their life together.
Their story begins with a mountaintop proposal, as told by Kim herself. “Jono proposed at the top of Mount Maroon. As his legs were like jelly, he could not get down on one knee for fear of falling off the side of the mountain! However, he insisted on re-enacting the proposal on one knee when they were safely at the bottom of the mountain, not free from flinches of pain, but full of love and excitement to finally begin our next chapter together.”
As always, the proposal didn’t quite go as planned for these two, who began their mountain climb on not much sleep at all! They share together “The day before he proposed, Jono planned our first camping trip together out at Lake Moogerah. It was a surprise location and Jono would not disclose any plans so I (Kim) was initially suspicious, but suspicions abated when the trip seemed to be a bit haphazard…we bought these sleeping bag onesies from Aldi and we’re excited to take them for a test drive, however after the first night of camping we had no sleep as the onesies were not graded warm enough and left us freezing cold the whole night! Despite this, I was still keen on making a hike up a nearby mountain as per Jono’s suggestion (where he would propose). In addition to our lack of sleep, our legs were already burning as we had done a leg workout the day prior in preparation for our Kilimanjaro trip, so we were climbing up struggle street. We had booked the campsite for two nights, but not willing to brace for another cold sleepless night and after an exhausting hike, we left and campsite defeated and booked a hotel room instead…but throughout the ordeal, we were still good spirits and look back and giggle.”
On her love for Jonathan, Kim shares “I love how thoughtful and generous Jono is. I love that he is a true gentleman, is hard-working, and has a heart of gold that always puts others first.”
With a love of both mountain and sea, Point Cartwright and Mount Emu were a beautiful combination for these two. “Kim loves hiking and sweeping views of the horizon from a mountain top, whereas Jono’s heart lies with the sea, so we opted for a mixture of mountain and coastal themes. The vibe was equal parts fun, relaxed and romantic and we couldn’t have dreamt of a better shoot!”
“I love Kim’s ever kind and loving spirit and always taking the time to share loving moments together ” tells the groom to be, continuing “I love that she is always patient and kind to all things.”
Amazing set of photos. Kudos to the photographer for capturing these lovely moments so well. Also lots of good wishes to the couple for a happy married life.
