We’re already half way through the year – WHAT?! Which does mean that we’re in the thick of winter now and the nights are cold. To remedy the cold outside and give inspiration for anyone in the midst of planning an Autumn or Winter wedding, try your hand at one – or a few – of these delicious wintery cocktails that we’ve rounded up.
For The Black Tie Issue, we highlighted a cocktail that included the strong, classic Black Russian cocktail. Drawing it’s origin from 1949, by a Belgium bartender, it isn’t for the faint-hearted. Which, on a cold and frosty night (hello Melbourne being 3 degrees overnight!), who could resist one of these to really warm up the soul?!
“Don’t go on insta, don’t go on insta, don’t go on insta…” If this is your current mantra as you watch everyone enjoying the European sun, bring a little summer sun into your house – fire and snuggly socks optional and enjoy the tart citrus flavour and the salted rim of this twisted margarita! Not only does it have that vibrant red tone, but the richness of flavour adds a decadent, complex layer to this old favourite.
Let’s twist the long-time favourite of the classic hot chocolate and jazz it up a little. While hot chocolate sits as the foundation for this decadent cocktail, the addition of our favourite cold drip coffee liqueur adds that mocha flavour, while bourbon gives it a little something extra. Yum!
If you love gingerbread men and can’t wait until the Christmas season to get your fix, we have just the (boozy) solution for you! The Emporium Hotel in Brisbane serves up the most festive-tasting cocktail of them all – The Gingerbread Man. The perfect antidote to the cold winter weather and a drink that will tickle the tastebuds!
Spiced Pear and Brown Sugar Cocktail
There’s no smell more comforting in winter than brown sugar bubbling on the stove with apples and pears stewing away. This cocktail is an adult version of all of this – and it’s delicious!!! It’s a warm hug in a cocktail that will aid the soul on a Friday after a long, cold week.
The scent of chai is reminiscent of another world and there’s something bold about it. However, sometimes you need a little extra kick from caffeine and a tipple for good measure…right? This spiked chai is best topped with whipped cream if you’re feeling a little decadent!
Didn’t we tell you we loved hot chocolate?! Who can really deny the amazingness of a warm cup of hot choc to remedy any sort of cold, wintery weather. This jaffa and orange hot chocolate is just the ticket and there is something about the smooth chocolate and orange liqueur that made this one shoot to one of our favourites, fast!
Now you have zero excuse not to whip up a delicious cocktail for your Friday night – or even over the weekend to sip in the warmth, cosy at home in toasty socks!
