How Ren met Emily:
It started on a Sunday morning. I woke up to a friend request on Facebook. I accepted and just like that I received the first of many messages from her… not really knowing what to say in the beginning suddenly escalated quickly, to staying up all night just to squeeze that last message in before one of us fell asleep. We clicked straight away and through all the nerves we decided to meet up for a drink in hopes of a new friendship to bloom.
I saw her walking towards me and was instantly nervous. I can easily say from the first moment I saw her I knew I couldn’t be just friends with this girl. As the days passed we couldn’t bear the thought of being without one another, it was unbearable. It was apparent that this truly was love at first site for me, and the following Sunday I asked her to be my girlfriend whilst buying her a bunch of roses. Since that day our life has been incredible, from moving into our first home, to our first overseas trip and all the memories we have created together.
I’ve experienced things with Emily I’d never experienced before, she made things possible and we conquered any obstacle that came our way. She pushes me to do things I would’ve never thought of doing and to be the best possible version of myself. She is my angel and my demon but she is everything I could have imagined, and so much more. I could not and don’t want to imagine life without her.
I’ve watched her discover her passion and become the person she is today because of that. I’ve tried to be her rock when she’s feeling unsteady, her armour when she’s about to break and her strength when she’s feeling weak. I love her for who she is and she loves me for who I am, what I am, who I’ve been and who I will become. She’s my best friend, my lover and my happily ever after.
I wanted to propose to Emily on our 2 year anniversary so I started searching online for some help and came across my proposal co. After a chat with their head coordinator, I decided to trust them to bring my proposal vision to life. We arranged a morning at my local salon where Emily had her hair done and was pampered. After she had her hair done, we went to a park in Sydney, where my proposal co. had set a beautiful picnic for me to surprise Emily with, with all her favourite treats.
Emily had no idea the picnic was for her when we were walking through the park, until she saw the framed photos of us and a letter on the table with her name on it. I handed Emily the letter I had written and once Emily finished reading, I dropped on one knee and asked her to marry me.
Proposing to Emily was the most daunting, nerve racking, beautiful, crazy, incredible thing I have ever done. I racked up the courage to pop THE question and today I have a beautiful fiancé who I cannot wait to marry and create a family with. With same sex marriage laws only being approved recently in Australia, this is now a reality for us and we couldn’t be happier.
