Creating a spectacular centrepiece for your wedding can be extremely easy! This driftwood candle holder centrepiece doesn’t take long to put together, and can be styled in hundreds of different ways. Find some gorgeous driftwood, and get styling! Surround it with fluffy white blooms for a modern beach theme, or pile it up, laden with fruit and cheese for a relaxed event. Use leafy green vines or rustic dried flowers, the options are limitless! You can use thin or thick candles, or make space in your driftwood for thin vases of flowers!
A driftwood centrepiece would look stunning for a small dinner party also. If you source flat driftwood, why not use it as a platter, as well as a centrepiece? Style this beauty around your theme, and it will look absolutely beautiful!
What You Will Need:
- Piece/several pieces of driftwood. Forage for some gorgeous branches, or enquire at your local florist to see if they can source large pieces from the markets
- Drill. If using thin candles, regular drill bits will be perfect. Otherwise, you will need larger drill bits, just slightly smaller than your chosen candle circumference.
- Your choice of styling goodies. Flowers, fruit, cheese, sweets, let your imagination run wild!
What To Do:
Step 1. Source candles that you would like to use. Once you have these, get out your drill, and check to see if your drill bits are slightly smaller than the size of the base of the candles. Making sure your piece of driftwood is secure, begin drilling holes. If you’d like a neat pattern of candles, rather than a haphazard cluster, mark out where you would like to drill before beginning.
Step 2. Continue drilling until you’re happy with your design. Don’t be afraid to go with very few, or a lot of holes. This DIY can work with many different themes and styling! Begin placing your candles in, and check that you’re happy with how it looks.
Step 3. If you’re making these candle holders in bulk to be used on your wedding day, pack candles and driftwood separately. Once at your wedding venue, you (or a chosen guest!) can style your driftwood centrepiece to your hearts delight! Always follow the candle manufacturer’s safety instructions, and be sure to keep foliage away from a lit flame.
