Kaela and Anoop

in the most stunning of city foyers in the middle of Melbourne CBD, Kaela and Anoop made their love story official, the backdrop of Melbourne’s city streets playing host to a day of beautiful celebration. The couple wanted to make sure their day was filled with every ounce of romance they had and an added dash of fun personality. The blank canvas of their reception allowing them the room to add plenty of colour and fairy lights, the most beautiful complement to the stunning images captured by Christopher Robert.

It was over a love of shoes that the couple met – Kaela working at a shoe store, introduced to Anoop by his best man on the groom’s very first day of work. Many years later, when the couple were living in  Singapore, Anoop chose one of the most iconic parts of the city to ask Kaela to marry him, Kaela remembering  “On 18th September 2016 (on our five year anniversary) Anoop decided that he would pop the question in our adopted home of Singapore. He took me to Gardens By the Bay, one of Singapore’s most iconic sights and my favourite place and took me on the boardwalk above the flower domes. It was at the point that we were talking about the last 5 years when Anoop took this opportunity to drop down on one knee… and ask me would I be his princess forever…. he proposed with a sketch of a ring that he had designed, which was just perfect!”

The bride chose Indulgence Design to create her blush pink wedding gown, telling “After numerous shopping trips in both Singapore and Melbourne, I walked into a dress shop and one particular dress caught my eye. It was beautiful but not perfect. It was at this point I took my ideas to Indulgence Design and asked them to design my ‘dream dress’. We always do things differently to others so it was at this point that I decided that I was going to have a blush pink dress. My mum and I shopped for layers of materials together to find the perfect colour. It was extra special that my  mum beaded the lace daisies in crystals and pearls that added to the amazing work that Indulgence Design created.”

Kaela and Anoop chose The Dome at 333 Collins Street for their ceremony, the bride noting “From the moment we saw The Dome we fell in love. It was unique, beautiful and something special. We wanted a place that we could return to in years to come.”

The bride walked down the aisle with her father to Mish Fortino’s “We Found Love”.

Rachel Reed officiated the ceremony, the bride remarking “The Ceremony was hands down our favourite part of the day. It was truly magical. Anoop said his favourite part was watching me walk down the long aisle at the dome. I just enjoyed every moment and was beaming from ear to ear with the amount of love in the room.
Our celebrant Rachel was amazing. Rachel is a friend of ours which made the ceremony even more intimate and personal. It was everything we could have wished for and more.”

Of her favourite part of wedding planning, Kaela shares “I loved creating our wedding dreams and allowing them to come true. I remember walking into The Dome and looking at the amazing flowers beside Anoop and walking into our reception venue and been blown away by the fairy lights. Seeing these made everything worth it.”

Of their photographer, Kaela gushes “Chris was honestly AMAZING. I couldn’t speak highly enough of Chris from Christopher Robert Photography. He was down to earth, fitted in with us and made us feel like our wedding photos were effortless. I remember briefing Chris over coffee and said: “these wedding photos might be a little tricky as Anoop hates photos”. Chris responded with “Don’t worry, I’ve got this” and that he did.”

“After living abroad for many years, we decided we wanted to have a piece of Melbourne with us on our wedding day so  both (us) and the bridal party caught the tram from Flinders Street station to the reception venue in Docklands.”

The newlyweds loved the blank canvas of Maia Docklands, choosing it for their sit down reception. The bride explaining “As we were planning our wedding from Singapore i wanted a place that we could start with from scratch and make our own and that we did.”

Of their first dance, Kaela remembers “Our first dance was “Here I am” by Bryan Adams. We saw Bryan Adams live in Singapore and when this song was played we knew this was the song that they wanted to have as our first dance as husband and wife.”

The newlyweds chose to surprise each other with wedding ring engravings, Kaela explaining “Our favourite part of the day was when Anoop and I got to read our personal message on the inside of our wedding bands that we wrote to one and other. Anoop and I decided that we wanted to write a special message to each other that we would remember forever. The funniest thing is that we wrote the same thing. We have never said this message to each other nor seen it before.
This made us realise just our strong our relationship actually is. We got engraved: Today, Tomorrow and Forever”.”
