Joh & Matt

You know how much we love unusual settings around here and when Joh and Matt decided to have their engagement photos, they enlisted photographer Gez Xavier Mansfield Photography who dodged a week of wind, smokey burn off skies and rain to create something magical.

With her hair and makeup by Chic Artistry, bride to be Joh had struggled along with Matt to find a location, but were inspired when Gez suggested the juxtaposed brilliant architecture and industrial setting of the Newcastle Water Works as the setting for their engagement photos. She tells “We are getting married in the CBD of Newcastle so near lots of beautiful beaches, funky streets and parks so we
wanted a different feel for our engagement photos.”

When asked how they met, Joh tells “We met at work! We thought that no one in the office knew… conveniently both going to Hawaii at the same time may have tipped a few people off.”

On what she loves about her future husband, Joh notes “I love Matty’s amazing cooking skills…and his fun personality!” Matt chiming in “I love Joh’s gorgeous smile and awesome memory!”

The groom to be proposed on holiday, Joh remembers “We had a wedding to attend in Queensland so we decided to take some extra time off work and go to Noosa for a week. Matt had a grand master plan and managed to hide the ring on the plane and in our bags for days. Matt surprised me with a picnic in the hinterlands after going to the Eumundi markets to get some cheese & fruit. It was a very rainy day and he had to change the location of the picnic but it was still an amazing day and I had no idea what he was doing when he surprised me with a ring!”
