Jane & Simon
I love to laugh, loud uproarious laughter that makes noise echo from the tree tops and this beautifully captured joyful Mount Tamborine engagement photos of Jane & Simon captured by Sophie Baker, are just that. Filled with laughter that you can practically hear through each photo and a story of a couple who clearly adore each other.
Jane and Simon share their story. “We first met in High School – Simon was at the grade 8 induction and Jane was a grade 9 liaison. We were both part of the basketball program and each had a crush on the other but were too dorky or shy to do anything about it.”
Simon had some convincing to do to get Jane alone for the proposal, she remembers. “Simon planned an incredibly romantic proposal at Paronella Park. The plan was to go on the midday tour and when we arrived at Teresa Falls, the tour (Guide and all) would carry on without us, unbeknownst to me. I really did not want to miss out on the tour so it took some quick thinking on Simons’ behalf to convince me to stay behind. He proposed with the falls behind us and in complete isolation, surrounded only by the birds and trees. It was magic. Every year we plan on going back to sit by the falls and enjoy the romance all over again.”
The shoot reflected a glorious day for the couple, Jane noting “Simon took me on our first date to Tambourine Mountain. We looked at the art galleries, ate too much fudge, drank too much wine, then ate too much pork knuckle. We often return, especially in the cooler months to enjoy a wine in front of a fireplace or an amazing view. It made sense to include it in our wedding, especially seeing we were getting married in Townsville, where we both grew up.”
On what she loves about her future husband, Jane remarks “There are so many things but two things stand out right away. He has a terrible sense of humour…which I can’t get enough of. The jokes are often wholesome and have a distinct 90’s throwback – the direct opposite of my own.
Simon has a gentle heart. It is not often he makes a decision without giving it full consideration to how it may impact the people around him. He is by far the most considerate person I have ever met.”
On what he loves about his wife to be, Simon says “Janey is the most thoughtful girl I’ve ever met. She always puts others before herself and I find that very special. Jane loves talking (even during movies) and I’m more of the quiet type, so we complement each other perfectly. She’s always making friends whether at the supermarket, shops or a servo due to her infectious personality.” Adding “I’ve never met someone who cares so much for family, friends and animals, and this proves that she has a heart of gold. I’m just thankful that she also has heart space to care for me, I’m one lucky bloke!”
