This week on Behind the Door I’m visiting two ladies who love everything growing and green; Claire and Sammy from Jane and Jones Flower Co. Claire and Sammy are two best friends with a passion for the joy flowers can bring to both the everyday and special events like weddings. Located in Perth, Jane and Jones Flower Co is a part of a lush, plant filled creative space called The Green Quarter shared with indoor plant studio Let It Grow Co.

Jane and Jones Flower Co specialize in unique and custom flowers for weddings and events with a strong belief that customer service is very important for brides. “We want brides to think of us as a floral obsessed bestie,” says Sammy, “this helps us create flowers that showcase their individual style and personality”. I love their wild-style table garlands and delicate botanical buttonholes and hair-pieces for weddings.

Sammy tells me the story of how they found the dream space in Wangara, Perth. “A few years ago, Claire and I were operating our floristry business from our laundries and lounge rooms,” Sammy tells me, “when we came across this fantastic green studio space run by my friend Chelsea for her plant studio”. Since flowers and plants go well together, and with collaboration opportunities galore, it made perfect sense for the trio to partner up and The Green Quarter was born.

“It was a disused office space when Chelsea found it,” says Sammy, “the dusty carpet was ripped up and the brick walls were painted white which gives it a beautiful, clean look for adding plants and flowers”. The store front is open seasonally Friday through Sunday and houses a curated collection of local made pots, cards and gifts as well as a jungle of indoor plants and flowers.

Jane and Jones Flower Co also have a sustainability ethos which tries to limit the amount of flower wastage by only using local and seasonal products where possible as well as composting, recycling and limiting packaging. I’m sure this offers peace of mind to many couples who love their flowers and plants.

The Green Quarter is home to workshops hosted by Sammy and Claire including bouquet making, table garlands, centrepieces and even a botanical wall art hanging class. It’s the perfect space with a long table for making, all the floristry tools on hand and even shopping afterwards. I love the idea of a flower-filled hen’s day or bridal shower in the space too!

Ms Polka Dot says: Collaborations between like-minded businesses are such a great idea and playing with flowers in a workshop at Jane and Jones Flower Co would be great way to spend some ‘me’ time with your friends.
About Amelia Waddell of Make Your Day Wedding Styling: I’m a wedding stylist and proud store owner who loves to chat weddings with everyone and anyone! I love to talk shop with other business owners (particularly over some chocolate cake!) and am the first to try and have a sticky beak behind the scenes of any event. My free time is spent ‘investigating’ new cafes, stores and events.
