Here at Polka Dot Made, we love any DIY project that is one of three things: simple, budget conscious and beautiful!
This tutorial for a Gold Glitter Dipped Feather Garland is all three. These sparkly and chic golden glitter feathers are an easy and economical way to add a little glam to your big day. Imagine strings and strings of these beauties hanging above a long table – or as a backdrop behind a bridal table. Doesn’t that sound lovely!?
Remember that these glitter feathers are particularly beautiful when they catch the sunlight – so if you can manage to arrange them in a space where they catch the afternoon light, you’ll be pleased you did. If you’re nervous about making large amounts in one sitting, don’t be! Make a few at first and you’ll discover how easy the process is. Then you can slowly but surely add to the amount as time permits.
To make a single string garland of six feathers. Repeat as necessary.
You Will Need:
6 x white feathers
Craft glue
Paint brush
Gold glitter (this glitter was from Ikea)
2 metres of embroidery cotton
What To Do:
Step One. Take each feather and brush it gently with your fingers so it separates.
Step Two. Using the paintbrush, paint the first third of the feather with craft glue.
Step Three. Take a pinch of glitter and sprinkle it over the glue until the tip of the feather is covered. Repeat until you are happy with the level of coverage. Leave feather to dry. Repeat process for the other five feathers.
Step Four. Double over the embroidery cotton and tie each feather to the cotton. Hang up and admire your handy work!
Ms Chinoiserie Says: Such a pretty garland – and so easy! I like the idea of including more than one colour of glitter – a gold and silver combination would look very chic!
