Katelin & Ryan
For this relaxed beachside backyard wedding there could not have been a more perfect day! Katelin and Ryan kept things simple and stunning as they married on their favourite beach, followed by a reception in their backyard. In The Wilds Of Someplace were on hand to capture every beautiful moment.
The bride and groom met through a mutual friend, with Katelin telling, ”We met at a party about 6 and a half years ago in a small country town. We lived about 4 hours apart but started seeing each other. I went away travelling for a few months, but we stayed in touch and reconnected on my return!”
Katelin chose her dream dress quite easily, recalling ”It was simple and pretty with a little lace detail, and perfect for a beach and garden wedding. When I knew that I was done we celebrated with champagne!” Wanting to be comfortable and relaxed, the groom wore attire by Politix, choosing navy trousers and white shirt with a lighter blue blazer. The flowers were gifted by a dear friend, with the bride telling, ”She chose white, cream and pale tones for the bouquets. It was a complete surprise on the day and they were perfect!”
Choosing their favourite beach for the ceremony worked perfectly, with Katelin telling, ”We wanted the ceremony to reflect us, to be relaxed but meaningful and with all our families and friends present. Our celebrant was Ryan’s godfather which added a personal touch. We had readings of Sonnet 17 by Pablo Neruda and lyrics from ‘Should I Fall Behind’ by Bruce Springsteen.” The bride walked down the aisle to ‘Opposite Of Us’ by Big Scary.
Having chosen such a meaningful location for their wedding, there was a few extra hands needed in the lead up to the big day! The bride remembers, ”We love the character of our backyard, it’s view to the inlet and the trees. However, the bucks party was dubbed the worst ever, as instead of partying Ryan asked his friends to come help him build the deck for the wedding! They also had to build some makeshift stairs as Lights Beach had washed away leaving a massive drop. The stairs were funny and perfect, absolute life savers!”
With such a spectacular location as their backdrop, the bride and groom were thrilled with the images from In The Wilds Of Someplace. Katelin tells, ”When we first saw the photos of Holii’s own wedding we were in love with their style and knew we wanted them to capture our day. They were creative, professional and made us feel at ease, they captured everything perfectly!”
Having a relaxed backyard reception allowed the bride and groom to enjoy every moment, with Katelin remembering, ”We didn’t plan a first dance, only wanting the dance floor to be full all night. We were summoned to the dance floor during a tune from Ginuwine so I think that might be remembered as our first dance!” And with Ryan being a wine maker for his own label Express Winemakers, delicious beverages flowed as the guests were treated to two spit roasts for the evening meal.
Thank you to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing their beautiful wedding day with us, and congratulations on tying the knot! Thank you also to In The Wilds Of Someplace for these stunning photographs!
