Saint Raphael may be the patron saint of love and that lime-light hogging Saint Valentine might be the patron saint of those who have already found their soul-mates. But it is Saint Patrick who may soon be associated with all things romantic in our hearts and minds as Pronovias’ sister label has taken the name for their very own.
Though St.Patrick the label has a rich Spanish heritage that spans back to the 1960’s (however their concept was actually sparked outside the famous St. Patrick’s cathedral in New York), they are debuting their wedding gowns on the international stage outside of Europe for the very first time. Their eponymously titled ‘St.Patrick Studio’ collection will be available to brides around the world, including Australia, beginning this Winter. Polka Dot Bride was lucky enough to be invited to see the collection – worn by none other than supermodel Karolina Kurkova – as it premiered live on the runway at the recent Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week.
Under the creative direction of Hervé Moreau, the latest collection is trend-focused embracing the pret-a-porter principles upon which St.Patrick was founded. Aside from keeping a firm eye on fashion, the collection prides itself on being ultra-feminine. Curvaceous sweetheart necklines and mermaid-silhouettes that gently hug the bride’s figure are the dominant shapes this season. Meanwhile a handful of proper princess ball gowns in gleaming satin finishes also hold their own. Classic floral lace is a big feature for St.Patrick this year. It trails over the body like wandering vines and provides a suitably demure counterpoint for the peek-a-boo sheer elements in many of the dresses.
Our very favourite thing just might be the subtle drama created by St.Patrick’s delicate lace-accented capes. They flow from the shoulders to sweep the floor in place of a traditional wedding dress train. Maravilloso!
The St.Patrick Studio 2018 collection will arrive in Australia from July 2017.
