If you’re a bride looking to dress your bridesmaids in jewel tones, you’re in luck this Autumn/Winter. Mulberry is the colour of the season for daytime and its sophisticated sister, oxblood, abounds for nighttime receptions. Forest, emerald green and sapphire blue dresses are also easy to find.
Another trend to note is the corset, but avoid the full-on saloon/showgirl look. Subtler cinching and lace-up details can be spied, not just at the waist, but as chokers and necklines too. Asymmetry is back for hemlines, cuffs and necklines, as are romantic ruffles. Deploy these styles with caution however; you’ll likely want your photos to look timeless in years to come.
As far as fabric choice goes, think beyond the traditional silk satin for bridesmaid dresses. Lace seems ever-present, but there are some unconventional lacy patterns around at the moment to choose from. Sumptuous velvet gowns can look beautiful and appropriate for cosy winter weddings in black or deep mulberry tones.
