What is your favourite region?
I think one of my favourite regions I have ever come across on my travels so far is Africa! I spent five weeks exploring East Africa in 2012 after I completed my teaching degree, and still to date it is one of the best trips I have ever been on! From beach hopping in Zanzibar, to sharing a campsite with wild elephants in Botswana, incredible safari game drives to catch a glimpse of the Big 5 in Kruger National Park in South Africa, flying in a helicopter over the Victoria Falls, walking with lions in Zambia and bungy jumping off the Victoria Falls bridge between Zambia and Zimbabwe, it was definitely the trip of a lifetime and I intend to return again soon to explore some more!
Top resort recommendation?
My top resort recommendation (and I haven’t really stayed at many resorts yet!) would have to be Bounty Island Resort in Fiji! I stayed in one of the waterfront island bures just metres from the beach!
The resort has amazing food, fun activities such a kayaking around the island and snorkelling (which I enjoyed doing quite a lot during my stay) or if you are looking to sit back and relax you can curl up with a good book in your own hammock in front of your bure!
Suggestions for great honeymoon activities?
One of the best things you can do on your honeymoon in the way of activities is to beach it. My husband and I found the best way to unwind and relax on our honeymoon (with some coastal drives in between) was to relax on many of the amazing beaches in Greece.
The beaches on Zakynthos and Kefalonia island were surrounded by towering cliffs and enticed us with crystal blue waters. Try out some other water activities such as paddle boarding or jet skiing – or if you are looking for something more relaxing, a long walk on the beach doesn’t go astray.
My husband and I found eating our way through Greece was a very popular honeymoon activity (ha ha!). NB: You do have permission on your honeymoon to do absolutely whatever you want, when you want. My husband and I on a couple of occasions spent half a day watching movies at our accommodation and later ventured out for dinner and a walk around town.
The ideal location for a proposal
The ideal location for a proposal for me would have to be somewhere with a great view! My husband proposed to me at Bradley’s Head in Mosman, NSW where there was a beautiful view of Sydney Harbour! It was the perfect location with a stunning view and private enough that we could share that special moment together.
Best kept secret honeymoon location
For my husband and I, our favourite honeymoon location was Greece! We stayed in Oia on the island of Santorini where we were able to book an amazing (and private!) cave house to stay for a week. The views from our little villa were absolutely incredible and breathtaking!

If you are looking for something alternative, we visited some of the lesser-known Greek Islands including Zakynthos and Kefalonia (the Ionians) and we spent a week at both islands exploring with our rental car! We went on many picturesque road trips along the coast where we beach hopped (to multiple beaches I might add!) and witnessed some pretty incredible cliff views! I would say these islands in particular are definitely secret honeymoon locations worth considering!
Ms Chinoiserie Says: I’m so glad you are able to work in a job that you love and travel the world as well! Your images from Santorini are so romantic; the perfect spot for a honeymoon!
