Megan & James
I love the blend of urban, chic and whimsy that Megan and James chose for their modern Albert Park wedding – but I admit, that donut wall? It might be something I see in my dreams for quite a while. What better way to make the most of Melbourne’s amazing donut makers? Megan and James chose Sayher Heffernan to capture the magic of their day.
Karen Willis Holmes created the bride’s gown, Megan remembering “It had a halter neck with a low back. It was a lace dress with a lace train. I chose it because it was a cut of dress that I love and the experience of buying it from Karen Willis Holmes was great. The dress made me feel absolutely beautiful on my wedding day.”
Bunched Together created the floral arrangements for the day made of white flowers and plenty of textural greenery. For the stationery, styling and planning of their day the couple chose The Details Co.
Albert Park venue Carousel was chosen for the ceremony and reception, guests gathering on the lakeside deck for the vows. Megan shares “It was beautiful as it overlooked the lake and it was a beautiful day.”
Megan walked down the aisle to “Everything” a song written and pre-recorded by the groom.
The couple were married by Pastor Jesse Winchester, noting “We sang a worship hymn called ‘How Great Thou Art’. The ceremony felt breathtaking and perfect. We felt nothing but love and joy.”
“Our favourite part was planning it together. We made all the decisions together.”
The couple created their own donut wall as a nod to their love of the round treats and James’ decision to propose at Melbourne donut makers Shortstop.
Of their first dance, the bride remembers “We danced to the song ‘Feels Like Home’. The groom sang the first verse and chorus of the song as a surprise and let the band take over as he asked for my hand for our first dance.”
Congratulations Megan and James! Thank you for sharing the story of your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Sayher Heffernan for sharing today’s celebration.
Love the vintage style dress! Gorgeous.
