Sarah & Ryan
With gorgeous flowers, a beautiful setting a story that weaves its way throughout each element of the day. This beautiful romantic Gabbinbar Homestead wedding is filled with the most dreamy of touches. Sarah and Ryan chose Jess Marks Photography to photograph their day.
Sarah tells the story of how they came to be. “We first met at work and quickly became friends. Three years later, just as I had given up on the idea that we might become a couple, I told him I was planning a move to Melbourne. Ryan decided to come and it didn’t take long after that.”
The groom wore a navy Cecil suit which was custom made, his groomsmen outfitted in Country Road.
The bride chose a custom-made gown by Mariana Hardwick .
Sarah and Ryan chose Gabbinbar Homestead for their wedding, explaining, “We wanted a location that was one spot for both the ceremony and the reception, that was private and could offer great food and service.”
“We loved that our dog Wally was able to be a part of the day. The venue was fantastic and let him free reign around the property and he had such a good time. It seems he was also a favourite of the photographer which is great, we’ve now got a keepsake of Wally’s Big Day Out!”
Anne Campbell officiated the ceremony, the bride telling, “We don’t feel too comfortable being the centre of attention so we wanted something that was fairly short and sharp. Our celebrant Anne was great, she kept us calm and laughing. My good friend Mischa, did a reading that we thought beset reflected our sentiments about supporting each other and being lucky enough to marry as best friends.”
“When you look at this blissfully happy couple about to embark on what should be the most enjoyable and fascinating journey of their lives, you can not help but feel envious of their situation should they embrace what marriage represents. Marriage is without doubt the greatest challenge they will undertake. However, it is also the opportunity of a lifetime.
They have the opportunity to share together all the excitement, joy, heartache and wonderment of each other’s life on a daily basis. They have the opportunity to work together to fulfil their combined dreams and wishes, whether that be career, health, travel, companionship or simply happiness.
The greatest joy a person can have is when they wake each morning to find lying next to them their lover, companion, friend. The person they always want to be with, grow old with and smile and laugh with and never be apart from. I am glad Sarah and Ryan have found this person in each other.”
Of their photographer, Sarah remarks, “Jess and Steve were great. We are really uncomfortable in front of a camera, and they were able to capture the natural, relaxed shots that we wanted.”
The bride was lucky enough to not only have Roberta of Green and Bloom as a florist, but also as a bridesmaid! She tells, “All our vendors were fabulous. I felt so proud that one of my best friends and bridesmaids (Roberta), was my florist and generously supplied a lot of the props for the day (such as cake stand, linen napkins etc). I’ve admired her talents for so long but it very meaningful to have her creations as part of my day.”
Sarah and Ryan chose Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” for their first dance, the bride remarking, “Ryan is not much of a dancer, so our first dance, was literally our first dance!”
“Hamilton Duo (from Rush Entertainment), were the music and they were so much fun. Lai has such talent. Everyone had time on the dancefloor and friends are now looking for an excuse for a party just to see Lai sing again.”
Congratulations Sarah and Ryan. Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Jess Marks Photography for sharing today’s celebrations!
