I had always dreamed of having a princess fairy tale wedding. Ponti surprised me with just that – it was such a magical wedding. Undeniably the most romantic wedding in 2015 I think!
We both met at work back in 2008. We were sitting right beside each other. He was my fellow engineer and I was just a fresh graduate engineer. It was love at first sight for Ponti. We share a lot of common interests and have been on a lot of adventures together.
Ponti proposed on Australia Day in 2014 under the heart shape fireworks; the song “Love is in the Air” was playing on that time. His proposal was witnessed by thousands of people at Mill Point Park; he knelt down with the engagement ring suddenly and popped the question “Will you marry me?”
My gown from Tuscany Bridal featured Spanish lace and a beautiful scallop back. I wore both a long veil and a short veil…. it was so glamorous!
Our special handmade boxed wedding invitations were from Lela New York.
I remember our wedding day when I hopped into the carriage from Golden Sunset Tours; tears of joy just started rolling down my cheeks knowing the man of my life had made such an effort to make my wish come true. My heart was beating fast and I remember holding my Dad’s and Mom’s hand so tight and can’t wait to see the love of my life. That moment was really breathtaking and unforgettable… it was the best wedding I ever wished for…
Our wedding ceremony was held at the Cottesloe Old Tank Stand; it was such a perfect spot. It overlooks the beautiful blue sky right in front of us and on the left side it overlooks the Indian Ocean with Rottnest Island visible from the horizon. My wedding entrance song was “Marry Me” by Amy Noelck.
We both loved it how our celebrant, Danicia Dutry from Pastel Blues Ceremonies opened our ceremony sharing the thoughts quoted from the famous bear ‘Winnie-The-Pooh’ by AA Milne.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together,
There is something you must always remember,
You’re braver than you believe,
Stronger than you seem,
And smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is,
Even if we’re apart,
I’ll always be with you.”
Our wedding incorporated both Chinese and Western traditions. We held the tea ceremony after the wedding ceremony at the beautiful Cottesloe Rotunda. That moment of kneeling down in front of our parents, sisters and brothers was so special… that joy of gratefulness and love that we have for our Moms and Dads… no one else was happier than them seeing their own children getting married, starting a family and living happily ever after. Friends flew in from all around the world to attend our wedding; the blessings we received were overwhelming.
Later, we strolled around the city whilst DeRay & Simcoe took our wedding photos at the garden where we both sometimes met up for lunch. We went to Hyde Park for a walk and took some photos under the trees. The park was so beautiful during that time, it was coming into Autumn and the colours captured in the photos are just stunning.
Mosmans Restaurant was the perfect place for our reception. Not just because it is our favourite restaurant where we normally went when we were dating but also we love the lush and private surroundings. The restaurant perches over the water on the stunning Swan River in Mosman Bay.
Salli and her angels from Touched by Angels have been working with us since our engagement. Ponti and I were totally in love with the setup they did.
Our wedding cake was handmade by the talented House of Royal Velvet. Anastasia has been working on it since our engagement too. She knows us well and what we wanted; the result was beyond expectation.
We also incorporated all the stories and everything related to us into our wedding – from gifts right down to the table numbers! Ponti drew our stories – from how we met right through to the days before the wedding – into teddy bear sketches which were then included with the table numbers. Handmade windmills were placed with the guest names; they represented the first project that we both worked on together – the Merredin Wind Farm. Handmade key holder frames and double happiness musical boxes were also given to our guests; they were so pretty!
Our guests had so much fun and enjoyed breathtaking views from every window in the restaurant. We had two special performances from our best friends – Dedy and Irfan. Dedy wrote and sang a song especially for us. It was such a magnificent night celebrating our day with all our loved ones.
