Rowena & Jordan
There is a beautiful ambiance around Rowena and Jordan’s Palm Beach Sydney wedding captured by Damien Furey. The beautiful ceremony overlooking the coastline, the gorgeous orange light as the sun set and the celebrations that began, and continued in so much earnest.
Rowena fills us in on the story of how they met. “We were both tag-a-longs of a couple of friends who were going to dinner and then a birthday party. A few drinks later, and BAM!”
Rowena chose a Rachel Gilbert gown, telling, “My way of finding the dress was not very traditional. I hate shopping in-store and really didn’t enjoy the idea of trying on dress after dress with the beloved females in my life, so instead, looked in magazines and online. When I found the Rachel Gilbert dress, I spent so many weeks trying to find it for sale, but being an older season, it was absolutely impossible! Finally, I found it barely second-hand and bought it for an absolute steal of $600! That was the one and only dress I tried on.
My mum made my veil and that made it feel all the more special. I felt like balancing out an not-so-traditional dress with it. But after the ceremony, it came straight off! I then wore a handmade tiara by Anna Marguerite for the rest of the day.”
For her walk down the aisle, Rowena chose, “Avril 14th by Aphex Twin. One of my favourite artists, who is usually known for some more crazy, trippy tunes. This is one of my all-time favourite songs. It is just simply beautiful to the point it’s almost haunting. Sofia Coppola also used this song in her movie Marie Antoinette when Kirsten Dunst’s character goes to Versaille.”
Rowena and Jordan chose The Bible Garden, Palm Beach for their wedding ceremony, which was officiated by Jessie Cachillo. “We fell in love with The Bible Garden from the moment we saw it, with its incredible views of the tip of the northern beaches and almost to the central coast. Neither of us are religious in the slightest, but just felt it was an absolutely beautiful spot to get married in.”
Of their photographer, Rowena says, “Damien was the photographer for another friend’s wedding, and we loved his approach and final product. He was amazing in every way, and saw me in an absolute bridezilla moment, but ended up calming me down massively!”
Rowena and Jordan chose Moby Dicks Whale Beach for their wedding reception, remarking, “Moby Dick’s embodies everything we wanted in a wedding. Amazing food and wine, the most beautiful flower arrangements year round, and service so incredible, you want to be friends with all the girls who work there. Moby Dick’s were fantastic in every way. I couldn’t fault them in the slightest, and we are so glad we chose them. They took care of everything and everything was done with a genuine smile.”
For the first dance, Rowena remembers, “We chose a Wicked Games remix by Parra for Cuva. I’ve always loved the Chris Isaak original, but this one was a bit more dancey and modern. The lyrics aren’t very traditionally romantic, but looking at all our song choices, none of them were!”
Rowena and Jordan chose In A Maze Films which captured the fun, joy filled moments of the day so very beautifully.
Congratulations Rowena and Jordan! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Damien Furey for sharing today’s wedding!
