Tamasin & Alex
I love a country wedding and when you add sequins to it? It might just be the most fun way to spend a day. Tamasin and Alex originally chose the Yarra Valley for their wedding, before deciding that the place they wanted to marry and hold their country garden wedding, was where they started to fall in love – the groom’s parent’s farm. They chose fotojojo to capture their wedding day.
Sentimental touches were even added to the bouquets, the bride remembering, “Alex proposed to me at my home of Minnie Water and to have a part of home with me on the day my grandmother picked some of the abundant native flannel flowers to bring down for our bouquets that Alex’s mum put together beautifully the night before.” The bride wore a gown embellished with gold sequins by Rachel Gilbert.
Joy Allan officiated the ceremony, which the bride describes as, “A family affair, our siblings stood by our side as our bridal party including Alex’s sister as a “Groomsmaid” while my mum and Alex’s aunt read Dr Seuss’s “The Places You’ll Go” and Mark Twain’s “What I Promise” respectively. Even the family cat decided to attend the ceremony!”
The groom’s parents surprised the newlyweds with a plaque for the tree under which they were married.
Guests enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the garden while the bridal party wandered the property for photographs.
Tamasin and Alex chose The Crossing, Deniliquin for their reception, noting, “We have been very lucky to have worked and traveled around much of Australia and our inspiration came from our vast backyard. In particular was a photo of two galahs Alex had taken during his work in the Pilbara. These Australian “love birds” featured on our self-designed invites we had printed locally and set the tone for our day. ”
“Instead of favours we donated to four charities close to our hearts on behalf of our guests. We did add a little touch of our international travels to our reception allocating our tables with animals we had seen in the wild from the different areas we’d travelled but the galahs on our cake (Felt Me Up Designs) stole the show!”
Tamasin remarks, “Guests came from every state and territory, with friends and family all making a huge effort to join us. Alex’s aunt and grandmother had even traveled all the way from Germany for our big day.”
Bottlebrush Films captured a moving film of the day.
Congratulations on your marriage Tamasin and Alex! Thank you to fotojojo for sharing today’s photos with us!
