When much loved bridal designer Claire Pettibone collaborated on a jewellery line late last year, I waited with baited breath to see the gowns that would follow and as expected, the gowns are every bit as beautiful as the jewels.
Inspired by the New York Gilded Age (from 1870 to 1900), Claire found her inspiration in the era of wealth and all of the opulence and extravagance that came with it creating gowns that spoke of the luxurious style while staying true to her own signature romantic design.
Metallic embroidery, laces in hues of rose gold, delicately hand beaded fabrics, scalloped hemlines, embroidered tulle, velvet lace detailing and pewter emblems all add a sense of beautifully crafted detail to the collection. Illusion lace necklines, billowing tulle overskirts, long elegant sleeves and even the appearance of mutton sleeves accentuate the timeless elegance of the Gilded Age collection.
The Claire Pettibone Couture collection is available in Australia at Primrose & Finch.
This beautiful film gives a little behind the scenes peek at “The Gilded Age” shoot, showing off even more of the sparkling details of the collection.
