Brooke & Alan
I love an engagement session at home – to me, engagement sessions are wonderful when they reflect what you truly love to do together and if that’s cosying up on your front deck, then what could be more perfect? Brooke and Alan’s sweet Paddington engagement comes to us from photographer Juddric Photography.
Of their engagement photos, Brooke tells, “We started off at home, then went for coffee at Java Lounge, one of our favourite cafés. We had a mosie through the Paddington Antique Store which we love and will be buying a lot of stuff from to decorate our wedding. And then we went to the local park where we spend quite a bit of time on weekends, and hung out with our huge pup.
We are both homebodies and we love the suburb we live in – it’s a big part of who we are and we spend a lot of time on weekends at coffee shops, looking at all of the little stores scattered along the main street and hanging out with the pooch. We didn’t feel right pretending to be something we’re not, so thought it would be nice to capture us doing what we love to do. Definitely some photos to one day show the grand kids – Juddric photography is amazing!”
Brooke remembers how they met. “In quite a weird way actually. Alan was advertising for a new housemate on realestate.com and I was looking for somewhere to live. By the time I told him I was interested in the room he had already given it to someone else so instead he asked if it was too bold of him to invite me out for dinner. I told him it was pretty bold. But agreed anyway smile emoticon the rest is history. realestate.com….. Bringing couples together since 2012.”
On what he loves about Brooke, Alan tells, “I love how pretty she is, especially first thing in the morning and last thing at night…..She goes alright for a night out also haha. I love how smart and funny she is. She gets my humour, sometimes a little too much. I love how she completes me, just like a jigsaw. I miss her when she is not with me and hate leaving when we are together. I love her brain, it drives all of her amazing features.”
On what she loves about Alan, Brooke tells, “I love Alan’s quirkiness and of course his Irish accent. I laugh almost constantly when I’m with him…… He’s calming, fun, adventurous and overall a pretty relaxed guy. But most importantly he actually enjoys giving me foot rubs (score).”
Brooke recounts the proposal story. “I’d had a really bad day at work. During the day Alan was really sweet and encouraged me to look forward to a pretty typical, chilled night at home with him. I got home and from the driveway could hear my favourite music playing. I thought “isn’t he sweet, trying to get me to relax”.
I walked in the door and there he was on one knee with a ring…… He was so nervous he forgot to ask me the question haha. But obviously I knew what was going on. It took me about 20 minutes to actually take in all the effort he had gone to, with flowers, candles, champagne, photos of us everywhere. We had a family event on the next day where we announced it so the hardest part was keeping it a secret from everyone that night.”
Brooke tells, “On our first date I couldn’t actually understand Alan’s accent so I just sat there nodding at things and laughing when he laughed, hoping he wouldn’t notice. We both still managed to make a good impression somehow! Also, on the morning of our engagement, we had an argument over how Alan was going to cook my eggs. Serious stuff. You would think he would know that by now.”
