As the summer’s end draws closer, we look forward to the crisp days of Autumn just around the corner. But with a gradual cooling down of the weather, we can hope for rain in those areas with devastating drought, and some more sunshine so that we can still dip our toes into the waves of our magnificent beaches. Thunderstorms and rain can deliver some stunning wedding images, and rain is meant to be good luck on your wedding day. So be prepared with Plan B if you’re having an outdoor celebration – it will give you peace of mind!!
Before we kick off our own week of happy wedding inspiration it’s time to highlight, spotlight and show off the members of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory. We have Bridesmaid Gowns, we have Photographers, we have Bridal Gowns, we even have Flowers! We work really hard to get vendors on board who are lovely – they’re excited to share a cup of tea and help you plan the best wedding day possible!
Check out Ms Polka Dot’s Directory for wedding vendors who will love your wedding as much as you!
Next to the groom (well…yes…) a marriage celebrant is arguably the most important member of the wedding. Melissa of Melissa Cornwall Marriage Celebrant loves being a celebrant and can assist with the writing of your vows, making the process easier in the lead up to the wedding – and can’t we all do with more of that! Melissa who has a background as a broadcast journalist is able to guide the ceremony with calmness and professionalism, easing the nerves while focusing on you as a couple. And as Melissa says, ‘I regard what I do as such a privilege and I’m told I always conduct ceremonies in a happy, relaxed and engaging manner.’
We asked Melissa of Melissa Cornwall Marriage Celebrant five questions in five minutes –
What is your favourite after five drink?
I’ll never say no to a glass of bubbly! And just lately I’ve become quite fond of an Aperol spritz – so refreshing.
Your favourite weekend getaway?
While living in Canberra my husband and I fell in love with the south coast of NSW. And while it’s a fair drive from Melbourne, we still have a soft spot for the coastal town of Mollymook.
Favourite restaurant?
The European, Spring Street, Melbourne. Or if we’ve dining closer to home, CRU, Glenferrie Road, Kew.
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
I love Sunday mornings because they always mean breakfast in bed. I’m pretty simple – coffee and toast with my husband and daughter.
Your favourite wedding story?
Brendan and Clancy’s recent winter wedding comes to mind. They first got together when they were 19 and then went their separate ways. Four years ago they reunited and in July, they became husband and wife. I just loved their story! They were so happy and so in love on their wedding day and couldn’t wait to be declared married so they could kiss. In fact they didn’t wait! They kissed as soon as they saw each other and they kept asking me when they could kiss again! They were such a lovely, relaxed couple – it was a joy to be a part of their day.
