What I love most about inspiration shoots is well, the inspiration! Something that might not not normally be considered at a wedding can go to the extreme and come out with such magical result. This shoot, “Pastel Dreams” for me, inspires a wedding with beautiful pastel shades – sweet pistachio, baby blue, petal pink and pale yellow details in a garden under dappled shade For you? It might be something different like a fun bridesmaid’s luncheon or kitchen tea. Whatever it is, let the dreamy details take you on a journey of imagination!
Tamar, the photographer behind the shoot from Bless Photography tells, “This shoot is the product of a handful of Sydney based creatives who had a vision to create something beautifully dreamy, bridal and unique. During the pre-visualisation stage, a comment was made that the girls would look like mermaids in the garden. With the pastel shades in their makeup and hair, and the glamorous and glitzy apparel and accessories, I think we very much achieved this. There is something so very delicate, ethereal and whimsy about this piece.”
Tamara joined with makeup artist Sabrina Melei from Makeup & Hair Boudoir, hair stylist Helen Momeni from Makeup & Hair Boudoir, cake designer Confetti & Crumbs, floral designer a mothers niche, furniture and prop company The Vintage Patina and models Melanie J Bowers, Natasha Tupas, Anastasia Cowan and Sarah Peddie-Mcguirk to create this shoot.
The models wore hairpieces and jewels from Bespoke by Renee, robes from Homebodii and lingerie from Papinelle.
Tamar tells, “Fairy floss was the inspiration for this gorgeous shoot. Yes, something as beautifully simple as fairy floss. A day dream of delicate and soft pastel hues, cotton candy atop delectable cakes, the prettiest pastel make up and whimsical pastel hair, soft and luxe fabrics of satin and lace, bubbly and light pink champagne, dreamy hanging florals, a lush garden and a swing to breathe in the sunshine. And, so “Pastel Dreams” was born.”
“A sun drenched afternoon soiree was designed that featured a bride and her bridesmaids getting ready for her special day. Sitting in a garden filled with pastel furniture, beautiful blooms and hanging lamp shades. Make up in the prettiest pastels, and hair with flower crowns and a beautiful bridal adornments. The girls wore gorgeous soft lace and satin lingerie and robes.
Tamar tells, “The shoot was styled to reflect a whimsical afternoon of champagne and cake. A way to celebrate the special friendship with your besties and thank them for being a part of your special day. We wanted the shoot to be dream-like in the floaty, delicate fabrics of their robes to the pastel colours and softness reflected in the blooms, hair, makeup, adornments and furnishing. Capturing this soiree in the garden in the later golden hours and shooting with open apertures, assisted to create that ethereal, dreaminess that we were wanting to achieve.”
The Little Paper Pantry created “Be My Bridesmaid?” stationery to match the pastel theme. Tamar remarking, “Yummy cakes, macarons, candy and of course a glass of bubbly to celebrate! When a bride chooses her bridal party, she chooses her besties. The girls who she wants to share her day with and spoil them to thank them for being a special part of her life. The stationery featured “thank you for being my bridesmaid” cards and menus. A whimsical afternoon of pastel delights and special time to celebrate with your besties.”
It’s A Cake Thing by Jhoanee created candy coloured macarons.
What a magical and whimsical shoot, congratulations to all the contributors, models and Polka Dot Bride who brought this vision to life. Its so nice to see something different. Thank you for choosing us to be apart of your creation. Congratulations!
