Say the word ‘Maldives’, and paradise springs to mind. Endives also spring to mind, but that’s just me.
If you’re having a bit of trouble choosing a specific part of paradise/the Maldives for your honeymoon, then I would very casually (not even slightly bordering on the hysterical) suggest that you check out the One&Only Reethi Rah Maldives Resort.
One&Only operate a collection of resorts that redefine luxury. With resorts in several countries, including Mauritius and Dubai, the jewel in the crown is arguably Reethi Rah in the Maldives. With over 130 villas – there are beach and water villas available – the real showstoppers are the recently added six even-more-luxury-than-before Grand water villas. I hate this phrase, but if you’re going for the “wow” factor (ughhh) then this is undoubtedly the place.
Unveiled in November this year, these villas are a masterclass in indulgence. Sitting on stilts in the Indian Ocean, featuring a swimming pool and an infinity pool (!!), as well as the paradise must haves – hammocks, sun loungers, private steps into the sea from your door, you know, the usual – you are waited on hand and foot by a dedicated 24 hour villa host (and possibly your new loving spouse), who is there to make your stay as wonderful as possible. If you want it, they can organise it. Spa session followed by a blissful couples massage? Booked. Fancy an intimate starlit dinner on your private decking? Done. A synchronised dolphin dance display, where you are presented with a garland of flowers and bottle of champagne as a finale? Okay, too far with the dolphins, but the champagne and flowers are definitely all in a day’s work.
Needless to say, there are a host of activities available at Reethi Rah. If you’re a water baby, there’s snorkelling, waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking – pretty much every water based activity you can think of! Alternatively, if you like the water (just not enough to spend all day breathing through a tube), there are deep sea fishing trips or cocktail cruises around the neighboring islands available.
If you’re partial to being on land, there’s something to suit everyone, from rock climbing to spa sessions! If you want it, Reethi Rah can provide it. Unless you wanted to snowboard. That’s probably off the cards. There are tennis courts and rock climbing walls, as well as bikes to hire, and plenty of private beach spots where you can sunbathe, sip drinks, and formulate a plan to stay undetected on the island forever.
It’s a little slice of paradise – and what could be a better start to your newly wedded life? Time to break into song now guys. Altogether now: I AAAAM THE ONE AND OOONLYYYY!
