Briar & Mitchell
As a big fan of cold weather I particularly love the romance of coats and snuggles in this engagement shoot of Briar and Mitchell from Sophie Baker Photography. Sophie chose Mudgeeraba with the couple for their engagement shoot, even incorporating Mitchell’s much loved Mini into the photographs.
On how they met, Briar and Mitchell remember, “Our siblings were friends before we were. We met at Mitchell’s brother’s birthday party when we were eight years old and actually bonded over the Spice Girls, of all things. We sat down on the tiled floor and listened to the radio for most of the night. So we’ve known each other for a long time.”
On what they love about one another, Briar and Mitchell remark ” We’ve been best friends for a long time, lovers for a short while. We both have strong personalities, so we often clash. But we’ve learned to appreciate the difference of opinion we both bring to the table and have gotten much better at arguing without fighting. We know at the end of the day that we can be fiercely passionate about our views and still respect each other’s opinion. It’s rare to have that balance down pat.”
The proposal occurred in the couple’s favourite country, they remember, “During a trip to Japan (one of Briar’s homes-away-from-home), Mitch proposed on a drizzly, foggy day up in the mountains of Kyoto, at the Kiyomuzi-dera temple (The “Pure Water Temple”) which overlooks Kyoto city. Briar said she sensed it was coming as Mitch suddenly seemed to become nervous, and kept looking for a quiet spot amongst the bustling temple. A sweet moment, and after she said yes they both swiftly agreed to get home out of the cold!”
Great set of engagement photos. I particularly like the black and white images. B &W always steal my heart.
