Danica & Ben
I’m no psychic, but I think you might love this surprise Mexican party from Glen and Fiona Photographers just as much as I do! The newlyweds invited their favourite people to a “surprise” 21st birthday party for Danica. The guests waited, dressed in their Mexican attire (plenty of sombreros and coloured ponchos!) to surprise the birthday girl who entered in a wedding gown!
The couple hit it off straight away when they met two and half years ago, Danica remembering, “Ben was my mum’s personal trainer. We spoke on Facebook every now and then, but my mum and another of his clients/mum’s friend didn’t want us to meet because they knew we would hit it off… We met at Mum’s birthday dinner, I strategically had him sit next to me while eating dinner then spent the whole night attached at the hip, talking like we’d known each other for years. At the end of the night as I was leaving, he ‘smoothly’ said “You should text me!”, I fell for it and said “But I don’t have your number…” Then he put his number in my phone and waited not so patiently for an hour or so for me to send the first message. That was 2 and a half years ago and we’ve be speaking every day since. ”
Danica remembers the surprise moment. “Everyone that attended thought they were surprising me for my 21st birthday. They waited in a room of the house to yell SURPRISE, but I surprised them by walking in wearing a white dress.”
Danica’s little sister was the flower girl. Her brother walked her down the aisle to How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding.
Penelope Watson Queen of Hearts Civil Marriage Celebrant performed the ceremony. On a chair in the front row sat a photo of Danica’s father who passed away three weeks before the wedding.
Danica added a photo of her late father to her bouquet which was created by C-Ann Silk Wedding Flowers.
The marquee was decorated with Mexican style birthday decorations! Guests enjoyed a feast catered by SafeHands Caterers.
Buttercups Cupcakes created a two tier cake with colourful decorations and plenty of cupcakes for guests to enjoy.
Danica remembers, “I loved the speeches from my mum, Ben’s parents and younger sister, and Ben were ridiculously entertaining and touching. Lovely moments shared.”
Of their photographers, Danica remembers, “Our photographers, Glen & Fiona, were amazing. We knew they were the perfect fit when we spent a couple hours in our first meeting, talking about Star Wars, Mexican food and falling in love with our Surprise-Birthday-Wedding ideas. On the day, they made us feel comfortable standing in front of the camera, capturing Ben and I exactly how we are, no fake cheesy grins or structured poses. Just capturing the moment with a very laid back approach that we both appreciate.
With my birthday being the day of the wedding, Glen somehow managed to sneak off during the night to get one of the photos we had just taken printed and put in a frame to give to me. They stopped at nothing to make sure that we got all that we wanted from the day. Towards the end of the night, Fiona followed Ben around for half an hour or so getting “Selfies” with everyone. They both went above and beyond to make our day absolutely amazing! ”
Of their first dance, Danica remembers, “We danced to “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Gerry & The Pacemakers. This song is the club song for Liverpool Football Club, Ben’s favourite team. We went to Melbourne last year to watch them play when they came over and we heard nearly 96,000 fans sing the song with the team and we knew that it had to be a part of our wedding. We just stepped around the dance floor because we’re not very good!”
Congratulations on your marriage Danica and Ben! Thank you so much for sharing your special day with us! Thank you also to Glen and Fiona Photographers for sharing today’s images with us!
