Melbourne designer Jason Grech had much acclaim when his “Birds Of Prey” collection hit the runway last month in Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. His show opened Runway 1 at the much awaited fashion week and the first time Jason worked with acclaimed milliner Richard Nylon who created the look that was used across the advertising for the festival.
The collection is the first solo show for Jason who recently took over the brand when co designer Harry Georgiou departed. The roller-coaster ride of this experience is reflected through the dramatic and somewhat dark designs in the “Birds Of Prey” collection. The pieces, each named after a feathered friend (or enemy, depending on how you see hawks, merlins and eagles!) featuring billowing silks, Italian heavy weight matte dry handle jersey, silk satins, georgette and sequined lace in shades of black, white, forest green, brulee and hints of yellow.
Jason, inspired by the turmoil in his life created a collection that in his words is “majestic and powerful”. The gowns each standing on their own, in solidarity – much like a bird of prey.
My favourite is the floral print gown above and the emerald green gown below – both perfectly appropriate wedding gowns with a touch of individual flair.
Jason Grech gowns are available on order, made to measure from Jason’s North Melbourne studio.
Love these designs from Jason Grech!!! They are so unique and stunning!!!
