I love the different cultures that come out to play when a wedding ceremony is conducted and one of my favourites is the history and tradition of a chuppah. Chuppahs of Melbourne is a company I recently stumbled across who have a beautifully modern take on this tradition, creating pieces that are as home on the beach as they are in a garden or hall.
Chuppahs, for those of us who don’t have the beautiful tradition in our own lives represent the “home” a couple will build together, in a Jewish wedding ceremony. The sides are kept open just as Abraham’s own tent was kept open as a sign of hospitality, the ceiling covered to represent the power of God over the covenant of marriage.
Owner Tahli has designed a range of chuppahs that are modern and flexible (and she will even work with you to custom design one!). The designs are able to hold everything from lit candles to beautiful floral arrangements. Design “Tree of Life” features silver birch branches and a sheer white top while “Woven Souls” features a white chiffon woven ceiling side draping. My favourite, for something modern and slightly industrially style is “Lavan on Lavan” which allows couples to fill the stands with fresh blooms.
Chuppahs of Melbourne can even work with you to provide the extras – like the Ketubbot, mezzuzah and Mazel Tov bags for glass smashing and soon? Well the chuppahs won’t be the only thing Tahli offers. Keep your eye on this savvy lady as she introduces a wide variety of ceremony structures (including wedding arches and backdrops) and complete styling!
Very pretty..I love the white on white.
Kudos,
George.
