If superb aromatic wine isn’t reason enough to get on a flight or take a scenic drive to the beautiful Hunter Valley, then add a wedding fair into the equation and I’m sure you’ll be convinced and ready to plan your adventure as much as I am.

This Sunday 4th May 2014 is the second Love On The Lawn wedding festival. Love On The Lawn is a fair with a distinct difference, a beautiful setting and diverse wedding vendors on display. This year Love On The Lawn will be held at Wandin Valley Estate in the Hunter Valley. And if you still can’t decide if the travel and the $20 entry fee will be worth it, here’s a look at last year’s event and proof that you won’t be disappointed.

Last November the first ever Love On The Lawn festival was held at The Tower Estate, and like most venues in the region it was picturesque and idyllic. Throughout the day the open grassed space was filled with people perched on picnic tables devouring succulent homemade hamburgers, macarons and sipping wine while loved up couples canoodled under mini tipi tents discussing their wedding finds and tapping their toes to the sounds of live music from Funkified Entertainment.

A number of marquees were strewn across the lawn housing different themes. One for fashion, one for photography and one for everything in between. Across the field the creative event stylists were grouped together displaying eclectic furniture, decorative props and colourful flowers, all ready to transform your chosen venue.

Grooms were certainly made to feel welcomed at Love On The Lawn with a spectacular man cave (well, tipi tent by Katalane) to relax in and enjoy a beer or two before viewing what was certainly the best line up of wedding transport I’ve ever seen at a wedding fair. You name it, it was there… a stretched Hummer, a Cadillac, a vintage Jaguar, retro VW Kombis and a horse and carriage. And then there was Slattery Helicopter Charters!!! Wow! The line up of cars was more than enough to keep the guys entertained (until they found a football to kick around) while the girls oohed and ahhed at the hourly fashion parades from designers Darb Couture, Brides of Beecroft, Ziolkowski, Vellos Bridal and Brides by Francesca.

This year sees not only a new venue but also some new wedding suppliers all set to pitch their tipi tents and ready to make the festival bigger and better than ever. So if you’re considering a destination wedding and the Hunter Valley is on your list,  then Love On The Lawn wedding festival is the perfect place to start planning your dream wedding day. Love On The Lawn  will be held Sunday 4th May at Wandin Valley Estate, 11am – 4pm.
