1. Colourful wedding dresses – I love weddings that are full of colour including the wedding dress. I got married in a Kingfisher blue rockabilly dress with a black petticoat and black shoes, (maybe I will show you sometime) and was made by New Zealand dress-maker PixiePocket, pictured above. She was amazing, sourcing the beautiful fabric, designing it to my ideas and nailed it completely. Weddings are a beautiful way to express your personality and what better way to do that than in a beautiful coloured wedding dress.
2. Bait Footwear – Bait footwear is so gorgeous. I am not lucky enough to own one of these beautiful pairs of shoes…yet, in fact having to choose only one would probably get me pretty upset. I don’t usually get this excited about shoes but if I was to get married again (the husband says once is enough for him ha!) I would love to wear a pair of their shoes. The colours are great for a statement pair of heels, or neutral for the more natural bride. To make you feel that little bit more special they have just gone completely vegan. Image by Rose Runs Wild
3. Inky Co. Designer Paper Goods – Inky co is a designer paper goods company based in Melbourne. They make beautiful products using old style production methods with beautiful designs. If you are a having a DIY wedding you have to check out their DIY blog. Showing easy ways to make gift bags which are great for bomboniere. 4. Sprinkles, Jimmies, 100s and 1000s! – I love sprinkles! I go through so many of these darn things but they just make people so happy! Sprinkles are definitely not just for kids, I have adults beaming from ear to ear when they pick up their colourful creations. “Jimmies” as they are also named, were first made in the 1930s and carry with them so much nostalgia making any event fun and colourful. They provide a new element of texture and stretch the imagination. I have used it on my most recent window display and it is attracting so many smiles! Photo: Miss Ladybird Cakes
5. Samara Clifford Photography – Being a quite “blunt at the best of times” type of person (I blame all my years in the kitchen) I adore finding people with the same trait! Curse? Blessing? Samara is that person. She is an amazing sound board, will tell you as it is, and then she takes incredible pictures to boot!
6. Finally, Rose Water – My chef, Amelia and I always talk about Rose water. It is an acquired taste, you either hate it or are head over heels in love with it. So when we get asked to make anything with rose water we get very excited. Traditionally made into Turkish delight and used by White Witches to enchant young lads like Edmund everywhere, it is beautiful when mixed with raspberry buttercream, rolled through strawberries, and sprinkled through meringue. A garden party wedding is the perfect setting to have rose water infused sweets and cocktails, creating a sense of romance.
Ms Gingham says: I did not know that 100s and 1000s were also called Jimmies! I love them even more now!
About Gina of Miss Ladybird Cakes: From as early as I can remember, I have spent my time creating things. As a child my mum kindly showed me the many ways of creating beautiful things out of nothing. Our room was always full of trinkets and objects made from anything we could find. Living in the country was a great treasure trove of creativity. As I got older all I wanted to do was help my mother cook dinner. This sudden love for cooking took me to the library where I found loads of big old cooking books. During my week I would take out the cook books and study them over and over again until I had rounded up three good recipes. A big trip to the super market later (out of my mother’s pocket of course) I’d spend all weekend creating the new treats. Usually a chocolate cake, a slice of some sort, and some cookies – maybe even a cheesecake, which my father enjoyed especially!
