Good morning Dotties! It’s hard to believe we are already in the second week of Polka Dot posting for the year! What are you thankful for this week? I’m so happy it’s not going to be stinking hot every day. As a winter loving girl hibernating inside from the heat is not my idea of a good time!
Monday morning tradition at Polka Dot Bride is to showcase our fabulous members of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory. From Bridal Gowns to Venues to Photography and even Catering! Pop on over and see our fantastic vendors, we’re working hard to fill our directory pages with talented people who you can sit down and share a laugh with, feel like they have your wedding in the bag and are genuinely wonderful people!

I am a sucker for beautifully executed hair and makeup and if there’s one thing I would hate, it’s being left to my own devices on a wedding morning to do makeup and hair. Personally? That’s the time I’m going to get mascara down my cheek, or my hair will fall out after five minutes. So I’m a big fan of hair and makeup artists who take the stress out of the day!
Meet our vendor of the week- the lovely Rebecca of The Girl in the Green Scarf. Based in Melbourne, Rebecca has a vintage edge to her hair and makeup styling. Inspired by the vintage glamour era, with over twenty years in the industry and using a range of brands to help achieve the look you wish, Rebecca’s all about making your wedding day relaxing and special.
We asked Rebecca from the Green Scarf Girl five questions in five minutes –
What is your favourite after five drink?
I love champagne – Vintage Bella it’s a pink champagne it’s just beautiful, I came about it by chance friends bought it for me when I opened my shop as my nick name was Bella and luckily I loved it as I got lots of bottles and now it’s my favourite drink.
Your favourite weekend getaway?
A weekend away to Daylesford is always a fab treat for me, I love it there! I love the cute layout of the town and it’s little vintage shops I can spend hours in them. I also can’t go past a treatment or two at Peppers Day Spa, a girl always needs a good pamper.
Favourite restaurant?
It’s silly that I live in Melbourne with about a million restaurants and my favourite is in Daylesford but I always have to go to ‘Beer and Breakfast’ when I go down there and I recommend it to everyone it is always amazing. And great imported beer too. So I have to say it is my favourite, even if I only can fit in the breakfast it’s still amazing. They even have this chocolate beer – very different !
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
When I have Sunday breakfast I usually can’t go past French toast or hot cakes, yum! I just had the best hot cakes in Yarraville last week. Nothing says a relaxing Sunday like hot cake .. it’s a bit naughty!
Your favourite wedding story?
I share so many special moments with my brides making their days special, you become very close with most of my brides that by the end of the morning it’s almost like you are part of the wedding. It’s so hard to pick just one wedding story there are so many that are special to me but one that stands out and it is all about the dress..
I fell in love with this bride’s quest for her wedding dress and then the end result of the dress was so beautiful I couldn’t imagine her in anything else. Claire wanted a vintage dress and couldn’t find anything in Melbourne so she found the dress of her dreams in an online auction in France – a beautiful 1900 century dress size 16-18 and she is a size 8. She bought her dress and found an amazing lady who specializes in vintage alterations and got to work on redesigning this beautiful gown. They both wanted to honour the dress and keep with the vintage style and the end result was amazing.. I worked with Claire during the process to come up with the perfect hair. This was tricky as I used the dress for inspiration and it kept changing shape as a result the hair was changed on the day because once the dress was present we both felt a new style was needed, and well everyone loved how amazing she looked. How romantic to wear a 100 year old dress.
