As we all know, Pinterest is full of beautiful images and inspirations but today, I wanted to explain how you can go about actually using Pinterest to plan your wedding.
If you haven’t discovered Pinterest yet, basically it’s a website that allows users to save images and categorise them on different boards. Much like ripping pages out of magazines and “pinning” them on a “pin board”!
Let’s start!
Go to Pinterest and create an account. You can do this through Facebook or by using an email address.
Once you have your account set up, this is how your main page or interface will look.
How do you use it to help plan your wedding? Easy! Start by creating a board. This is how it’s done: click on the plus sign and then on the bottom create board
I have named this board “Our Wedding” but you can be creative and name it whatever you like!
As you look through pinterest and find images you like, you can add them to your board for inspiration. As you can see I pin ideas for the wedding such as the dress I would like, the cake, the invitations, details, venues anything that can come to your mind that you would like to have on your wedding day.
When creating a board you have to enter a name, write a description and categorise it. In this case our board will go under weddings and if you want to keep it secret you can activate that option as well.
I also invited my bridesmaid and best friends to be part of the board so they could suggest ideas, as they were not in the same country as I was living in. You can do so and invite them by email or through Facebook of course as indicated below with the pink lines 🙂
And we are almost ready…. just some final tips on how to pin.
There are two ways
1. With the pinterest button you and include on your browser. For example, you are navigating the internet and doing research for your wedding & you find the place where you want to order your cake. You can just pin the image and save it to your board. This way you save the image that you like and by doing so, it will direct you back to the website you pinned it from when you click on it. A great way to save vendor details!
2.Through Pinterest as shown below. There’s a section for weddings and you can also search directly using key words and phrases.
I love pinterest and have found so many great ideas. I really hope you find it useful too and please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions!
Happy pinning!

Ms Gingham says: I great beginner’s guide to Pinterest! WARNING: Pinterest is highly addictive!
About Larissa Landinez: I am a Venezuelan contemporary jewellery designer that after 10years in Florence, Italy moved recently to Sydney as I’ve got married. As my work is handmade I enjoy anything that is created with the hands as it has a story behind and is significant for the person that made it.
I love using Pinterest for wedding planning. It’s the best way to get vendors to actually see my vision rather than having to describe it in words… particularly useful for the florist! I have an iPad which I take along to all my vendor meetings and it’s great because they can access it themselves as well – I sent the link to our stationer ages ago, and when we met her on the weekend she’d come up with a spread of ideas and examples interweaved with ideas from my pinterest. It’s fabulous for keeping us all on the same page.
I agree! It’s so much fun and easy to take along on your ipad. Also so easy to invite your vendors to the board and not be sharing 10000 photos across 10000 emails!
The great thing is I have one dedicated account for my wedding. So I have boards for every little thing… flowers, ceremony, venue, inspiration … it always makes me happy to flick through it 🙂 http://www.pinterest.com/carlyswedding
That’s another great idea Carly!
I must say recently I client came to me with the images she pinned from Pinterest so it’s a great tool!
