Allegra & Dave
The sweet pastel country wedding of Allegra and Dave is filled with sweet colours and details. Frame And Bloom Photography captured the handmade details- the bunting sewn by the bride’s mother, the doorway made by a friend, the stationery and added extras handmade by the bride. The couple married on the bride’s family property and celebrated with guests in a nearby woolshed.
Allegra tells the story of how they came to be. “Dave is originally from Melbourne and I’m originally from Mooroopna/Tatura. We first met through a friend who would visit my group of friends sometimes. However we didn’t really become good friends until I moved to Melbourne a few years later and we were then going to the same church. We both liked each other at different points but it just never happened. Funnily enough Dave moved to Tatura to work and I stayed in Melbourne for university. After a bit of encouragement from my friends Dave was motivated to try again with me. He asked me out, I said yes and it all began from there.”
The wedding space was decorated with handmade signs and coloured bunting. Allegra remembers, “As soon as I was engaged I fell in love with bunting and really wanted these at my wedding. I was blessed to have a Mum who was not only willing but could sew and she put them all together. This was our main decoration and it really changed the whole atmosphere”. The bride also found the old door for her entrance, explaining, “We also had a doorway to walk through at the ceremony, I saw a photo of this on Pinterest and thought it was a cool idea as an entrance and a way no one would see me before I walked down the aisle.”
Allegra and Dave were married on Allegra’s family property. Allegra remarks, “We were able to get married on the property I grew up on. This was so special for so many reasons and was a beautiful place we will always have to remember the day by.”
Allegra walked down the aisle to Plain White T’s – 1, 2, 3, 4.
“I had painted a sign for our engagement party and we really liked it so we had it above us at the ceremony.” A friend found the hay bales and Allegra covered them in sheets and blankets.
Allegra remarks, “Our family and friends completely made the whole day. I’m quite a shy person but walking down the aisle I was so happy not only because I got to marry the man of my dreams but because I was able to share it with everyone who meant so much to me.”
Allegra and her bridesmaids wore gowns from Threadsville Shepparton, Allegra remarking, “You always imagine feeling your most beautiful on your wedding day and I really had that. I couldn’t wait to put my dress on as soon as I woke up and I felt so beautiful and confident all day.”
Of their photographer, Allegra tells, “I met Esther at a church I attended in Melbourne. I first saw her photography at my friend’s wedding and I loved it. I really liked her style and lighting so we knew we’d love to have her photograph our wedding.”
Emerald Bank Woolshed hosted the wedding reception, Allegra remembering, “When looking for a reception I wanted something rustic and warm. When I saw Emerald Bank Woolshed I knew I couldn’t have it anywhere else. Even without anything in it, the Woolshed created a beautiful atmosphere; exactly what we wanted.”
The bride made the stationery for the day as well as a fun lolly bar.
Of their first dance, Allegra recalls ,”Our first dance started off quite funny, we got to the dance floor and were waiting for the song to start only to realise we hadn’t given the band the Ipod. After a few laughs we got it sorted then danced to ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay. This is one of Dave’s (favourite) songs and was really beautiful for our first dance.”
