The day was beautiful in every way, just like our wedding day was exactly a year to the day earlier. We had picture perfect weather and we were able to relive some very special elements from our big day on our anniversary with just the two of us. It was very romantic. Doves symbolised the start of the new chapter and our lives going from being newlyweds to the next year of marriage and hopefully when the time is right, starting to have a family.
We renewed our vows at St John’s Cathedral in Brisbane city which was where we had tied the knot in front of our family and friends on our wedding day. Being able to renew our vows there was just beautiful and something which was so very special to us. We’ll remember it forever.
We had readings from our wedding day and we took turns in reading out the passages of the bible. We tailored the service specially for our anniversary. We were remarried by the Dean of St John’s Peter which was such an honour. It’s the most amazing Cathedral in Brisbane city.
We literally did tie the knot! Peter explained to us all of the history of brides and grooms who tie the knot. It was a very nice touch, especially for our first wedding anniversary celebrating renewing our vows. We also had a renewal certificate which was perfect for the first year being paper!
On the day we both wore black and white which tied in with our relaxed, French theme which was consistent for our engagement, wedding and anniversary/vow renewal. We had fun with some cute little props! And I had fun dancing around with my gorgeous new heels!
I wore the beautiful necklace which Brenton bought me for our wedding it. I love it so much. It has images of us from our engagement shoot and a love lock image from Paris the city where we got engaged. It’s also engraved with our wedding date, our own R & B monogram and a cute little Eiffel Tower. The sentimental value is so much to me. Brenton knows me very well. He also choose my engagement ring and bands. I received my eternity ring after being married for 9 months on my 29th birthday. My husband is full of surprises and I am so very lucky in every way!
For couples who are considering choosing to spend their first wedding anniversary in a similar way to what we did, we say go for it! Let’s hope our next anniversary we celebrate the news that we will be expecting the pitter patter of little feet! xxoo
