Seeing a collection as the designer has meant it to be seen is always a treat, so when Melbourne designer Gwendolynne sent over her collection shoot at Melbourne’s Werribee Mansion it was the most beautiful backdrop for the gowns inspired by yesteryear.
This collection, entitled Lumiere Et L’Ombre, draws inspiration from art deco architecture. Gwendolynne, inspired by buildings designed by the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright, echoes these details throughout the dresses – picking up shapes and patterns and working them into the collection.
The detailing and fabric is also, as I have come to expect, exquisite, Gwendolynne working with a beader trained in the French ‘Luneville’ technique to create incredible beading detail on top of fabrics like silk satins in shades of oyster, mocha and blush. Fluttering sleeves, sheer backs and soft, floating skirts create a collection that although heavy on detail, is light and beautiful.
I’m blown away! Absolutely stunning images of gorgeously detailed gowns
