Engagement Party
With close to 200 people, endless trays of danishes and croissants, and the realisation that we are terrible at barefoot bowls, Darren & Teagen’s Engagement party was over.
It was a beautiful day with the threat of rain staying away. A late morning into lunch event saw Daz & Teags’ friends and family join them to celebrate their engagement. It was laid-back and fun – a perfect representation of the couple themselves.
We are one of those families… yes, the ones that at every big occasion a family photo must be taken. I am sure that one day I will learn to appreciate this as we look back and see our family unit expand in number as time goes on.
With one brother to go, I think he was wondering where his partner was (don’t worry Ty – I’m sure you’ll bring a Canadian girl home after your trip!). We laughed at the sun in our eyes and finally managed a picture where we weren’t all too squinty!
Wedding Planning Update
I got once last chance to do some bridesmaidy duties in the form of dress shopping!
Originally, we were looking at ordering dresses online, but with a hesitant feeling, our bride set off to check out some dresses in-store. We received a text to meet her at Belladonna Bridesmaids and Formal to try on some lacy frocks she had found.
It was an afternoon of fun as we modeled different styles and estimated what dresses would suit those who couldn’t make it. With one bridesmaid due in December (before the wedding) we did our best amidst giggles to try on dresses over her beautiful baby bump. In the end, we all settled on a different style of dress with the same colour and fabric.
So as I head overseas for a couple of months (bad bridesmaid form I know!), our bride and groom will need to get cracking with the following to-do list:
- Finalise ceremony venue
- Send out invitations
- Taste-test and decide on a wedding cake and reception menu
- Arrange bouquets
- Plan reception centrepieces and decor
- Find and order groom and groomsmen attire
- Organise transport
- Plan the honeymoon
From 16,500kms away, I will be urging you both on as the wedding countdown approaches the final months of planning! Enjoy x
