Veronica and Pat
Veronica and Pat chose a private garden wedding to celebrate their marriage. Captured by the groom’s nephew Briars Atlas they planned it in just seven weeks, hiding their plans and surprising the guests at their engagement party the next evening with the news (and wedding photos!).
Veronica describes the story of how they met as a long story. “A combination of work, friends and good luck!”
Veronica remarks, “Our wedding was a little different. We planned a surprise wedding where only immediate family and the wedding party attended and then we told all of our friends the next night during the speeches at our ‘engagement party’.”
Of their photographer (who is actually the groom’s uncle!) the newlyweds remark, ” Oli captured all of the emotion of the day, there where times when we didn’t even realise he was there, capturing the more intimate photos. His pictures are so natural, unique and honest. a truly talented man.”
Veronica and Pat were married at Raesowna Park in Hazelwood North. Veronica remembers, “The ceremony was in a couple’s garden made in honour of their daughter. They made us feel so at home. They even made us all the scones and other sweets. The garden was beautiful with so many different settings.”
For the processional, the bridesmaids walked down the aisle to ‘What A Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong while Veronica chose ‘The Wedding Song’ by Angus & Julia Stone.
“The whole wedding was simple and intimate with the focus being on each other and marriage instead of a big white wedding. We wrote our own vows which was very emotional when we heard each others for the first time.”
The couple were lucky enough to have a family friend (Glenda Noordam) perform the ceremony.
One of the bridesmaids sorted the couple’s wedding cars for the day.
The couple celebrated with a private dinner at Gaztronemy Restaurant.
Veronica remembers, “We didn’t have a traditional first dance. However, we did have our first dance together to ‘Time of My Life’ picked by our friends.”
Congratulations Veronica and Pat! Thank you for sharing your story with us! Thank you Briars Atlas for sharing today’s beautiful shots!
