There’s nothing quite like getting away from all the stress of your day-to-day life and indulging in a relaxing holiday (I’m counting down to a week away very soon!). And when better to relax than just after one of the biggest days of your life? If you’re after a honeymoon destination that’s luxurious but not too far from home, check out the stunning Arajilla Retreat at Lord Howe Island.
Only a few steps away from the gorgeous white sands of Old Settlement Beach, Arajilla Retreat is a sanctuary of relaxation and tranquility. As Lord Howe Island’s premier retreat, you can be sure that you’re getting an experience to savour forever.
Arajilla Retreat offers three types of suites to guests, knowing that every guest is unique and wants the most relaxing getaway they can get. The Arajilla suites have two bedrooms and bathrooms with a separate living room and outdoor decks. Nestled in the forest, they’re perfect for the couple who wants some privacy! The one-bedroom Kentia suites have an outdoor deck leading directly down into the Kentia palms, just a short stroll away from Old Settlement Beach. Meanwhile, the beautiful Banyan suites give guests two levels of ‘leafy and lofty’ luxury.
Each room rate includes a full breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks and a three course dinner. How’s that for service? Arajilla’s food can only be described as sumptuous. Every meal is designed to tantalise every one of your senses – your tastebuds aren’t the only ones being treated! Guests can dine at Arajilla Restaurant with clever, inventive and delicious food cooked by chef Dennis. Every day the menu changes to suit what fresh local ingredients are available, so you’ll never be bored. Indulge in some afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks and canapes at The Lounge, Arajilla’s communal hub where guests chill out after their day exploring the island. You can also dine in your suite, or take some food for a romantic picnic on the beach.
What would a retreat be without a spa? Arajilla Day Spa is the only one of its kind on Lord Howe Island, and its extensive menu is to die for. The full range of treatments will leave you feeling pampered and revitalised. Arajilla’s therapists want to leave your body feeling natural and well, and their experience, enthusiasm and care will keep you coming back for more. From massages to facials to full Ayurvedic consultations, you’ll feel like a new person after a session at the spa!
If you’re wanting to explore the picturesque island, Arajilla have you covered there. Knowing that Lord Howe Island’s exceptional beauty should be seen by all, they’ve developed a range of activities to get you out and about during your stay. Take a snorkelling or fishing trip, or maybe catch a few waves. Arajilla Retreat is only four kilometres away from the Lord Howe Island Golf Club, so you can play a round on one of Australia’s most beautiful greens. You can even hike through the island’s rainforests or climb Mt Gower if you’re into something a little more active! Bicycles are available to all Arajilla guests, so you can explore the island at your own pace.
Looking at all these pictures, I’m wondering if I could grab some more time away and head over there! Nothing says relaxation to me like beaches and being pampered. I am lucky enough to have a brother who works at one of the resorts on Lord Howe Island, so I managed to get there earlier this year. The thing that struck me was how untouched it was – so clean and breathtaking. They only allow a certain number of people on the island at any time to preserve its beauty, which makes it a unique and exclusive experience. The best part for me was swimming in the warm beach waters with wild sea turtles!
We stayed at Arajilla Retreat for our honeymoon last summer and had a lovely time. We enjoyed being so close to the beach, plus the spa was amazing too. Highly recommended.
