Paper flowers are one of my weaknesses, there is something about creating something so beautiful out of paper to keep forever that I love and the new book by one of my favourite stylist and long time polka dot loves Rebecca Thuss (together with husband Patrick Farrell of photography and styling company Thuss + Farrell) is clearly my favourite release of the month, if not the year.
Paper To Petal by Rebecca Thuss and Patrick Farrell covers everything from inspiration to creation when it comes to these paper treats.
Kicking off with beautifully styled paper floral arrangements – gold and fuchsia tulips, chyogami cherry blossoms, metallic camellias, white pine and Japanese paper peonies to name just a very chosen few, all with full colour pages and close detail shots the book captivates your imagination from the get go.
The book journeys through to a simple but informative instruction on materials you’ll need to create the projects, and then through to basic skills such as creating stamens, bugs and even down to finishing stems.
There’s a massive 75 projects in the book- ranging from basic pom pom flowers to more intricate liquorice all sort arrangements and full sized bouquets of mixed flowers. Each beautiful picture finishes off the book with a beginning to end tutorial with comprehensions material lists, variations on the project and tips and tricks from Rebecca to make the project clear and easy to recreate.
Paper To Petal by Rebecca Thuss and Patrick Farrell is truly a title I will treasure in my book case and refer to often. I am dying to get stuck into the projects but until then, remain content with the beautiful imagery that graces the pages.
