So sit back and enjoy the journey to exotic destinations with your host Kristy!
What is your favourite region?
I’d have to say the Pacific Islands. It’s hard to beat being surrounded by turquoise waters, laid back locals, and sunshine. It’s just the perfect place to escape reality and do absolutely nothing but laze by the water with a book in one hand, and a cocktail in the other. And without the hassle of a long haul flight!
Top Resort Recommendation?
Pacific Resort Aitutaki in the Cook Islands is divine. From the absolute beachfront bungalows to the island’s pampering service, this place is a paradise lover’s sanctuary and it’s no surprise it nabbed the title of the World’s Leading Boutique Island Resort (World Travel Awards).
With a full service on site restaurant with the freshest cuisine, crystal clear turquoise waters to snorkel, dive or swim in, lush tropical gardens to explore, and some of the whitest sand around to dig your toes into, it ticks all the right boxes.
And of course, the resort is the perfect place for romance. If the scenery wasn’t enough to melt your heart, guests can even have their own love nest sunset dinner on the beach.
Suggestions for great honeymoon activities:
Well apart from the obvious, there are so many ways to enjoy your first holiday as husband and wife. My number one tip though is to make sure you discuss what sort of honeymoon you both want. If he’s up for action packed days of snorkelling, hiking and kayaking and you’re all about sleep-ins, lazy breakfasts and cocktails by the pool, you could be on your way to your first marital argument!
Activity inspiration:
- Splash out on something indulgent that you wouldn’t usually be able to justify. Whether it’s chartering a yacht in the Whitsundays to take you to a secluded island for a private picnic with bubbly, a restaurant reservation at a three-star Michelin restaurant or a helicopter ride, those memories will live on beyond the credit card bill.
- Book in for a cooking class. Not only will you have fun, every time you recreate the meals at home you’ll be enjoying a little piece of your honeymoon… awww!
- Pamper, pamper, pamper. Melt away any wedding stress with all the massages and facials you can. There’s nothing more entertaining than hubby getting his first pedicure or facial.
The ideal location for a proposal?
Choosing a destination that means something to you both makes the occasion extra special. I was proposed to in Thailand over cocktails watching the sun go down in our overwater bungalow in Koh Chang. That was such a magical moment, and pretty ideal if I do say so myself.
Best kept secret honeymoon location?
Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Pricey, yes, but if your ideal honeymoon consists of a luxurious escape with a postcard-perfect moment everywhere you turn, then Six Senses is worth every penny.
The resort is impeccably designed to maximise feeling like a king and queen on a secluded island. Boasting 58 beachfront pool villas, a wine cave and an array of outdoor activities including yoga on the rocks, it’s truly impossible to fault.
Thanks so much to Kirsty for so many fantastic tips and destinations for us to moon over. I’m certainly hanging to pack my bathers right now for a warmer climate and a sandy beach! For more honeymoon inspiration, head over to lastminute.com.au and make a dream your reality.
