Varenna, Lake Como
Hello there!
Recently my wife Simone and I were lucky enough to be invited to photograph some destination weddings in Italy. The country is dotted with the most picturesque locations for weddings and honeymoons so I thought I would share with you some of our favourite places from our trip to Italy. We’ve also included a few places of accommodation if you’re wondering where to stay in Italy. Of course the best time to enjoy these locations is the European Summer…enjoy!
AMALFI COAST
This winding rugged coastline is dotted with chocolate box towns jutting out of the mountains. Positano and Ravello are the most picturesque. We suggest staying at La Sirenuse or Palazzo Murat in Positano. Also, the island of Capri, only a 30 minute boat ride from Positano is the playground of the jet-seters and has the best shopping and dining to match. You will feel like you’ve stepped back to the 1950’s on the Italian Riviera! Suggested hotels are JK Place and Capri Tiberio Palace.

LAKE COMO
The most beautiful location we have ever seen for a wedding was Villa Balbianello on Lake Como – it was in the James Bond and Star Wars movies. The amazing thing is that anyone can use this stunning villa and gardens for their ceremony. Villa Melzi in Bellagio is also gorgeous and what better way to tour the local towns or arrive to your reception than by boat! A luxury honeymoon at Villa Deste would be divine, or for more budget options try the pretty town of Varenna.

VENICE
Venice is heaving with tourists through the day but once the sun goes down the streets seem to empty and you can get lost amongst the back lanes and canals with your lover. So romantic! Hotel Cipriani is a beautiful place to stay.

TUSCANY
Hiring a villa in Tuscany is a great way to do a destination wedding – everyone can stay at the same property and enjoy the festivities over a few days. Driving to wineries around the countryside or chilling by the pool make for a relaxing holiday. Villas include Tenuta di Sticciano, Villa Palagina, Villa Bordoni, and Catureglio.
