If you are a couple lucky enough to be planning a destination wedding, whether it be to the sandy shores of Thailand or the majestic mountains of Ireland – then you could have more luck coming your way!
The very talented duo behind She Takes Pictures He Makes Films, Lucy and Alastair, are offering one couple the opportunity to have them document your 2014 destination wedding, with a photography and cinematography package giveaway, valued at $5900.00!
The prices includes:
- All day coverage
- A 6-8 minute film of your day, set to music
- a DVD of 450 – 550 high resolution, carefully edited JPG images for you to keep
These two have a distinct style about them, and produce gorgeous whimsical images and films that make you wish you were a guest at each of the weddings they cover!
Lucy’s approach is very natural, and she likes to melt into the background, capturing beautiful moments as they happen and helping you to feel comfortable.
Alastair produces a beautiful 6-8 minute short film (edited to music) of your day, piecing together an intimate story that is both engaging and cinematic.
Working in this way ensures he is able to work in an unobtrusive manner, getting quick shots with a handheld DSLR rather than having two cameramen with giant rigging filming the whole day! We have this pretty fab film to show you that will give you an idea of their style (think the Aussie bush, giant tee pees, rockabilly bride, gypsy folk band, massive bonfire…). So much fun!
Look like your kind of style? Fantastic, now here’s how to enter –
Simply “Like” the Lucy Spartalis Facebook page and then tell us, in 75 words or less, why you are having a destination wedding, and what will make it particularly special for you and your guests. Also remember to include the location and date!

Nick is from Sydney and I’m from Toronto. So we wanted to have some sort of middle ground for our family and friends to come together and celebrate our special day. We love the sun and outdoors. So we picked Boracay, Philippines for our wedding next year on March 13, 2014. We would definitely love to win this contest from She Takes Pictures He Makes Films, their work is just magical and it would be amazing if they could capture our special day.
He’s half American and half Swedish, with a lovely touch of Scottish. She is Swedish and loves color, laughter and him.
They will become Mr and Mrs MacInnes and together they will face the adventures of life, love, rainy days, old record stores and cookies.
It’s going to be a fall wedding in Örebro, Sweden. There will be afternoon tea, sparkles, love, giggles and giant balloons!
Simply, a wedding for all to remember!
Hello Erica,

Hi guys!
Sorry about that! The tricky (and a little bit crazy) thing is: we haven’t set a date yet! We’ve been talking about 21th of september or maybe the first or second saturday of october (this year!).
And maybe (or most likely) you’re already booked but it’s worth a shot!
Have a great week!
Erica
Cheers Erica! The competition is running until the 19th of June; if you decide on a specific date in that time please post it here so that we may factor our availability into our decision.
Kindly,
Lucy and Alastair

Friends from all walks of life are being asked to celebrate our marriage in Mexico next year – August date to be confirmed. Three days of celebrations to include fabulous Old Hollywood style frocks & suits set in magical hilltop & beach surrounds, parading through colourful streets, boat rides, local seafood feasts, lanterns & fireworks and LOTS of dancing. I’m marrying James, the strong, romantic, kind and adventurous love of my life – I hope you can be there! x
The scene will be set at The Library on Koh Samui, a beautiful location that reflects our ‘together life’ which has evolved around colourful journeys, noodle soup’s & sandy feet.
We will become Mr & Mrs on Sunday 20.4.14, but because 1 day simply isn’t long enough to celebrate when we have all our favourite people come together in one spot! There will be 4+days of frivolity, fun and fabulousness over the long weekend. Featuring sunset cocktail catch-ups with friends and family from far off distant lands, dance floor antics, sun, laughter, and lots & lots of love.x

My fiance spent many holidays growing up on North Stradbroke Island. The first time he took me there I fell in love with the island and we have been over many times since. Its a beautiful place; unpretentious, casual and so quiet, almost stuck in a time warp! The perfect spot to wind down and relax, making it the best location for two busy people to get married on the 6th December 2014! We just want to show our guests this amazing piece of Australia!
For my beautiful sister, who lives in another country, and has bestowed the honor of me being her only bridesmaid for her April 20th 2014 wedding on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, Thailand, i would love to give her this gift, as I am unable to be with her while she plans her special day, so that her true beauty and happiness at the union with her soulmate can be captured & because I love her.
Destination weddings provide a visceral feeling of relaxation and joy, by already being a holiday location. It’s about crossing physical and mental thresholds. The simple and elegant honesty of our island wedding, on the 6th December 2014, will be special for our guests, because Stradbroke Island embodies those qualities.
My Fiance and I are getting married in Fiji on 7 August 2014. We are getting married overseas as we want to have an intimate celebration with our nearest and dearest and make it the fairytale holiday with a Disney movie ending.. We met 4 weeks before my fiance moved overseas and he asked me to come with him, we have travelled the world for the last 2 years and now we have settled back in Australia. It only seems fitting to get married abroad. It will be a reunion of such with some of the amazing people we made life long friendships with on our travels around the world being there with us. I would love “she takes pictures, he makes films” to take the pictures that will illustrate our fairytale book with a happily ever after ending.
These are not Q’s that i can answer. I would like to give this to my cousin who just got engaged. I can’t make it (different state), but i would love for his new life to be a little more financial by me winning this and that’s 1 thing on the big day they don’t have to worry about plus more for their house deposit and their new future
We would love to win a photo shoot with she takes pictures, he makes films. We are getting married on 25th February 2014 in Fiji. High school sweethearts will finally marry in the beach with crashing waves, cocktails and our nearest and dearest after 12 years together. It will be a magical day for us and could not think of a more fitting and romantic destination to begin our FOREVER.
On 20.4.14 we will be married at The Library on Koh Samui, a gorgeous location half way between our 2 families, which reflects our ‘together life’ that has evolved around colourful journeys & sandy feet. But because 1 day isn’t long enough when we have all our favourite people together! There will be 4+days of frivolity and fabulousness. Featuring sunset cocktail catch-ups, dance floor antics, laughter, and lots & lots of love.x
We’re getting married in Bordeaux, France on 14.06.2014 because we’ve always dreamed of exchanging vows amongst roving hillsides, overlooking the Dordogne Valley.
Sharing an intimate ceremony within a rustic vineyard, surrounded by closest friends and family, will make it the most special day of our lives.
After supporting us through our 10 incredible years together (since age19), it will be a sincerely special moment for our guests when they finally hear ‘Kiss your Bride’!
May 10th next year we will be saying ‘I do’ in the gorgeous Whitsundays with, after having had to cancel our previously planned wedding due to financial hardship and job loss’ winning would take a huge stress off, especially as capturing the memories is one of the most important parts!
On the 28th of February 2015, a fairytale wedding at Quamby Estate in Launceston’s beautiful country side in Tasmania is where my fiance and I will be wed. Sebastien is French-South African so we will have a lot of intimate moments to capture with his beloved family from overseas and interstate, whom he hasn’t been able to afford visiting since 2006. Our wedding day will be not only about our new beginning with one another, but the importance of sharing such a special moment with our families. We chose Tasmania is where we both moved to with our families in 2006, and have since travelled to, to visit.
Renewing vows after 13 years, we had friends take photos for our wedding and would love to renew our vows properly amongst family and friends on the beach in special spot in caloundra that has earning to our family. Money wise stuck again with medical bills for autistic daughter and hubby not working to help. So been trying for year now renew but no luck due cost especially photos. Our anniversary is 7 th October 2013
Hopefully this counts as a destination…
We are getting married in the beautiful Yarravalley, at Zonzo on the 14th February 2014. For us having some elderly & family unable to travel we couldn’t go too far. Even though its only an hour from Melbourne, at Zonzo’s it feels like you’re in another place already.
Valentines day wasn’t our first choice, but we fell in love with the venue at first sight. Relatives from Italy and some particular family members presence is enough to make this a very special day.
Thanks
Giulia & Mark
My Aussie fiance & I are tying the knot in the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Santo Domingo is the oldest city in the Americas and the island was where Christopher Columbus first touched land in the “New World.” We will wed in a centuries old Catholic Church & then party ’til sunrise with all our family & friends in an open air venue. The festivities will begin in the city where my family is from, but continue to the beaches in Bavaro/Punta Cana, as we are planning a 3-4 day affair. I am so very excited to finally show off the beautiful island that has brought so many happy memories for me & my family (& now my fiance) to all our Aussie & American family & friends! The date for our bash is January 3, 2015. We hope you’ll join us.
Dominican American/Croatian Australian wedding in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic’s Colonial Zone: Oldest European settlement in the Americas & my family’s home. Nuptials in a centuries-old Catholic church, then dinner, drinks, & dancing (likely ’til sunrise) in an open-air venue. Continuing to the Bávaro beaches, as we plan a 3-4 day affair. We are ecstatic to show off the island, as for us, “destination wedding” means uniting family & friends from around the globe! January 3, 2015.
Good wedding photographers will capture the memories on your wedding day. A great wedding photographer will not only capture those very special moments but more importantly the emotions. Thank you very much for these wedding photography tips.
Art Deco themed wedding in Cape Town, February 2015.
My dad & our baby son will be giving me away. My partner was born in the Cape & we would love for his grandparents to be able to share our day. It will be an outdoors with magical lighting, elegant 1920’s feel & a little bit quirky. Can’t wait to see my baby boy & the love of my life all suited & booted surrounded by people we love.
I am sending this for my daughter. She is getting married on the 24th September, and her wedding was going to be the first one she has ever been to, so that was going to be special, but in February was diagnosed with Cancer and been going through Chemo, she has lost her hair and as a hairdresser has been another blow to add to everything, but then 2 weeks ago while she has still been trying to work, had to be rushed to hospital and had to have her appendicitis taken out. She then continued chemo the next week and then pushed to be back at work. The only thing that is keeping her going is her wedding. That has been her whole focus. So winning like this for her, to keep the special memories of the day and what she has had to go through would be so special. Her 2 brothers are in Canada and they are coming back for the wedding and one of her brothers is going to be singing and playing guitar when she walks down the isle. I am so so proud of her.
