Desire & Keith
Desire and Keith chose a peacock theme for their wedding day, the vibrant greens, blues and purples setting the tone for a celebration with family and loved ones as they joined together in marriage.
Desire tells of how they met. “We were both living in London at the time, Jesse (Desire’s best friend) set up a night out on the town. We met that night and really the rest was history, inseparable from that moment on.”
Nerida McMurray Photography captured the wedding today with clean, unfussed moments capturing the essence of the day.
Desire chose a lace gown from Allure Bridal with a hairpiece designed by Michelle Pagonis (Shellarn Design). Her bridesmaids wore peacock blue gowns from Two Birds Bridesmaid.
Desire and Keith married at Newport Mirage Hotel. Desire explaining, ” We wanted a place that guests could stay at and enjoy the whole day without having to travel in between. The water/mirage was the perfect backdrop and the sun was shining after a week of constant rain.”
Desire walked down the aisle to ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ – IZ.
Of their photographer Desire says, “The moment we came across her (Nerida McMurray’s) website there was no doubt that she was ‘the one’ to photograph our special day! She made us feel so comfortable and got the shots we wanted and will cherish them always! All that and being pregnant! Superwoman!”
“As I’m (Desire) an Event Planner by trade most of the planning and details were covered. I had set up a room in my house dedicated to the wedding and having my own space to create was actually a form of therapy when I know most brides can be pretty stressed out during the lead up.”
“Keith is from New Zealand and I’m from South Africa – the venue had two flagpoles so instead of having just guest books we flew our country flags during the ceremony and had them as the guestbooks for friends and family to write messages on in the evening.”
For their first dance, Desire remembers, “Leading up to the wedding we have decided to take some dance lessons at Arthur Murray (George Street) whilst being scary at first we had many moments of laughter and we highly recommend it to any couple in preparation for their big day. If anything this brought us even closer together. Our special song was Lucky – Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat – all the lessons paid off on the night!”
Congratulations on your marriage Desire and Keith! Thank you for sharing it with us! Thank you also to Nerida McMurray Photography for sharing today’s images!
Beautiful ideas with the peacock feathers and the two flags – never seen that before! Love it when couples do something unique and individual like this 🙂
